Unfortunately, this instrument was not widely adopted until the early 1800s due to its high price and complexity. However, during the 18th century, several engineers began developing new designs for iron sight instruments including Nicholas-Jacques Conte and Johann Christoph Friedrich Struve. These inventors believed that advances in technology would eventually make perfect use of both open and dovetail designs so they developed what is now known as a Weaver's Sight or a modern day Weaver's Marker! In 1784 AD, Conte created what is now considered the world's first true openiron hunting rifle sight: Theocononium carbide relief line deer hunter (later called La Crosse). This instrument featured a Picatinny rail which allowed shooters to adjust its elevation by turning a screwdriver while firing! Unfortunately, this design was not widely adopted due to its high cost and complex construction; however it did help pave the way for later innovations such as today’s Weaver’s Sight system which has been modified countless times over the years in order accommodate different firearms platforms and shooting conditions!
