The Texarkana Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club's first president was Dr. John H. Stephenson, who served from 1893 to 1895. In 1899, the club moved its meeting place to the old Masonic Temple on Elm Street in Texarkana.
Texarkana is an important city in the state of Arkansas. The population was 103,801 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Arkansas by population. It is also home to the University of Arkansas Razorbacks football team and the Texarkana Civic Center. The first European Settlement in what is now Texarkana began in 1836 when a group of Mormons led by Brigham Young landed on Good Friday on a bluff overlooking the present-day town. By 1840, most of what is now Texarkana had been surveyed and laid out as a town by John Cordingly, brother-in-law of General James K. Polk and one of the original promoters of Manifest Destiny. The town name was chosen because Native Americans called it "Teketa" or "Place where water courses converge." In 1881, Texarkana was incorporated as a city with a population of 507 people. At that time, it was known for its Texas cotton gin industry—the first industrial plant inArkansas—and its position as an important junction for wagon roads connecting eastern Long Island with points westward. In 1907, oil rigs were erected along Arkadelphia Creek just south of downtown to provide jobs for local citizens during World War I; however, these rigs only lasted two years before being dismantled due to high costs and low production levels. In 1941, during World War II,Texarkana became one of four cities (the others being Little Rock, AR; Fort Smith/Fayetteville, AR; and Phenix City/Huntsville AL) within Arkansas designated as “A” training sites for military personnel needed for their war effort against Japan. As part of this program designed to increase production at various munitions plants throughout the state while minimizing casualties among civilian populations living near military installations not directly involved in war efforts (such as Texarkana), Army engineers built several large dams across Arkadelphia Creek including Beaver Dam which formed today’s downtown core neighborhood and Tillman Dam forming east side neighborhoods such as North Lamar Street and South Gault Drive today's Midtown district between State Highway 146 (now US 64) and Interstate 30 heading east from Little Rock towards Tulsa Oklahoma

Texarkana, Arkansas is a town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1881 as a cattle and wagon drive on the White River. In 1907, Texarkana hosted the Cotton Council of America's Headquarters Meeting which helped to spur American cotton production. The town also saw growth in retail and commercial sectors during the 20th century. However, significant decline took place during the Great Recession that struck the U.S. in 2008-2009. As a result of this downturn, Texarkana lost its status as an industrial center and has since seen modest development over the past few years.
