Springdale is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock-Conway Combined Statistical Area. Springdale is located on the edge of the Ozark Mountains and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Climate Classification: Cfa). In 1875, John W. Springdale started to develop his land west of where he now lives. He named his home "Springs", after his daughter's maiden name. Springs grew rapidly due to its location and natural resources; by 1900 it had a population of 1,500 people and became known as one of the most important cotton towns in Arkansas. The post office was founded in 1903 and served Springdale until 1959; it was then renamed Arkadelphia formail carrier General James H. Arkadelphia who had been ambassador to France during World War II. Springdale first attracted attention when its citizens built an all-weather track for their horse race horses in 1903 which still runs today as The Arkansas Race Course . In 1907 they also built The Memorial Stadium which served as home base forogs teams from rural Arkansas until 1974 when they moved to Little Rock to become State Fair Park 's main stadium (). It also hosted many summer events such as carnivals, concerts and swimming pool parties through most of the 1920s before becoming a primarily agricultural community with few services other than groceries, water supply and occasional truck stops on Highway 17 outside town limits during those years. After World War II things changed again when petroleum products began arriving from Texas via pipeline so industry soon arrived followed by retail development including gift shops, restaurants and small stores that dot present day town center streetsides today while service industries have declined substantially leaving only two churches remaining in what once were six buildings adjacent to each other along Main Street circa 2009

In 1868, a group of men and women led by Elijah Price set out from Springdale, Arkansas to found the town of Helena. The town was founded on what is now Broadway Street. The first post office in Helena was opened in 1870. In 1875, the town of Springdale merged with Helena to form a new municipality.
