Siloam Springs is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville–Milton, AR metropolitan area. Siloam Springs is located on the Arkansas River and is bordered by Fayetteville to the north and east, Stephens City to the south, and White Bluff to the west. Siloam Springs may have been named for an artificial rock-lined pool on the banks of the Arkansas River that was used as a watering place for animals in early days of development in this area. The first permanent settler in Siloam Spring Township was James Bledsoe who arrived about 1837. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street near present day US Highway 362. By 1840 there were 9 families living here including James' 2 wives and 4 children: Sarah (Bledsoe), Nancy (Green) McConnell (Griggs), Ellis (Fenton), John (Clark), Reuben (Harrison) and Pollyanna Cooksey alias Pollenie Cooksey (Cooksey). In 1845 James Bledsoe's son John moved from Siloam Spring to Greenbrier County so he could get married thereand start a new family In 1856 three brothers - Samuel Mcelroy, Elijah Hockerty and William Booth - came to live at Big Creek Plantation just outside of Siloam Springs where they raised hogs, hogskins and chickens until 1865 when they sold their land and moved back into Arkansas because of Civil War problems with Missouri landowners owner not giving them passage out if their property should be taken during Reconstruction The community name "Siloam Springs" originated about 1870 when one man said it sounded like "siloeamspring" or "shelley springs". A group of men from nearby Fayetteville had formed an association called "The Citizens" to improve water distribution within Pulaski County which led to its current name They decided that since everyone knew about "siloeamspring" we needed our own name too When they got word there was another small town in Arkansaw called Springdale being forced off its land by settlers groups because it didn't have an assay office they co-opted that name also

In 1861, Siloam Springs was attacked by Confederate forces during the Civil War. This attack destroyed most of the town and killed many people including many of the original settlers. After the war ended, Siloam Springs slowly recovered until World War II hit it hard with a large influx of refugees from Europe. Many businesses were destroyed or closed due to wartime damage and taxes that were raised to help finance these arrivals. The war also caused a decrease in population as many people left for other parts of Arkansas or Mississippi because they could not afford to live in what had once been their home country. In 1945, when World War II came to an end,Siloam Springs again experienced rapid growth as new residents moved in and businesses opened up thanks to post-war reconstruction efforts). It now has over 1,000 residents and is considered one of Siloam Springs' most vibrant neighborhoods
