Siloam Springs, Arkansas is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. The town is named for Siloam Springs, a stream in nearby Ozark National Forest. The siloams are a series of large water reservoirs built by the United States during World War I to store water for use in the war effort. The community began as a post office on October 5, 1903 with the name of Springerville. It was renamed Siloam Springs on February 11, 1907 after Rear Admiral George W. Smith's visit to the area and his speech there about how "the people of this country have done more for civilization than any other people on earth." On July 3, 1912, Siloam Springs had its first housing developments with 100 homes built at East Main Street and North Second Avenue. The post office closed on December 31st 1978 due to heavy mail volume and low demand from residents (mostly farmers). As of 2013 there are still no active postal offices open in Siloam Springs but it does not appear that mail will be discontinued anytime soon since thetown has an internet cafe and several businesses providing email services which offer high-speed access without having to go through the postal service! The first store opened up in Siloam Springs when it started being established as a small community back in 1903 by J C Andrews who ran an auto parts store across from where he lived on Second Street. In 1913 Mr Andrews' son Harry opened up what became known as 'The Hi-Fi Store'. By 1934 all local businesses were consolidated into one building which served as the business district until it burned down in 1937; however all traces of that building can still be seen today around downtown including part of what once was 'The Hi-Fi Store'. This original brick building now stands next door to what used to be The Hi-Fi Store's parking lot and can be toured if you're brave enough! Just walk out onto Second Street from High School Road and take your time turning right (or left) until you reach where The Hi-Fi Store once stood - then turn around quickly before continuing down Second Street! You'll see evidence that some windows were actually replaced with metal plates during this time period so don't worry if you MISSED THEM... just keep walking until you come To Where We Used To Be!.

Siloam Springs is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Hot Springs Micropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1872 by wagon train passengers who were on their way to California. A post office was established at Siloam Springs in 1876, and mail service from California continued until 1906. The first settlers were white men from Kentucky and Tennessee; they built homes around a spring that still supplies water to the town today. The original name for the town – "Sillabaugh" – may have been derived from anIndian word meaning "a place where there is plenty of water." In 1881, when the railroad arrived, many people had to leave because of it. After it left, most of the residents turned to agriculture or went into other businesses. In 1907, lumber magnate James Hargrave donated land for a hydroelectric plant which became known as Siloam Springs Hydroelectricity Company Limited (SSHP). Today, SSHP provides power for various activities in and around Siloam Springs including training schools and hospitals; it also helps maintain drinking water quality for more than 2 million residents within its boundaries. During World War II, local farmers provided feed for troops on maneuvers near Byers Field; food rations lasted up to three days and consisted of only one-third of what was available back home
The Siloam Springs area was first settled in the 1840s by Scotsmen. The early settlers were miners and their families who worked the nearby earth mines. In 1851, a group of Mormons moved to Siloam Springs from Nauvoo, Illinois. They built a ranch and began trading goods with the local Native American population. The Mormons also built a small mill which they used to grind flour for their LDS church services. By 1870, the town had developed into a small community with several shops and homes. In 1881, the US Congress created Yellowstone National Park and named it after President James K. Polk's brother-in-law, General George Armstrong Custer. Because of this, many people in Siloam Springs abandoned their homes and businesses to join Custer's party as they rode into parkland. The town quickly disbanded as most of its residents left for new adventures or started new lives elsewhere in America.
