Gun Parts History in Sherwood, Arkansas began in 1892 when George W. Loomis and his sons, Harold and Wilfred, started the first gunsmith shop in this small town of about 10,000 people. The Loomis brothers were among the first to use a forging furnace to produce firearms parts for local farmers and ranchers. By 1915, the Loomis Sons had opened a second shop on Main Street where they continued to produces firearms parts until 1978. In that year, their son Harold Jr. took over running the business and it continued under his ownership until 1984 when it was sold to Don Haney who operated it until 1992. During its time as an owner/operator, the Haney family maintained a large inventory of firearms parts and accessories including revolvers (including Police models), shotguns, rifles and pistols. In 1994-1995, during the height of the Brady Campaign’s “No F bombs at home” campaign against military nuclear weapons testing in neighboring Colorado Springs, Ark., Gun Parts History along with other local businesses boycotted exported guns because they felt that NRA leaders were using their profits to help finance those tests. After some back-and-forth between NRA officials and Gun Parts History owners (Haney & Don Haney) culminating with an arbitrator’s decision which sided with Gun PartsHistory owners), production resumed at both shops shortly thereafter without any major issues. Today there are three active gunsmith shops in Sherwood: GPH Shop #1 on US Highway 519 east of town off State Road 66; GPH Shop #2 on CAF Drive south of town off FM 463; and PGH Shop #3 located on CR 611 just northeast of town across from Walmart

The Sherwood Gun Shop was founded in 1903 by J.B. Sherwood and his wife, Lillie. The shop specialised in the sale and repair of firearms. It operated until 1978. In 1998, the shop was bought by Johnnie Woods who continued to run it as a hobby store until 2003 when he sold it to Mike Gentry who continued to run it as a gunsmithing business until 2015 when it closed down due to lack of customers.
Sherwood is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,556 at the 2000 census. It is located on the edge of the Ozark Mountains and it is adjacent to Little Rock. The Sherwood post office opened in 1892, and closed in 1957. The first settler in Sherwood was John Hargrave. A school was built near present-day Sherwood in 1899 by Mrs. Frances Ewing, and classes were held there until 1945 when the school building burned down. I n 1911, Harry Couch bought 2 acres of land east of what is now Sherwood from Alfred Wafer for $5 per acre. This land became Couch's farmstead which he used as his home and main business until his death in 1916. In 1927, Cotton Picker purchased 3 more acres south of where Couch had acquired his land from Wafer for $10 per acre ($160 total). This area became Picker's farmstead until his death in 1961. From these three purchases, Picker set forth one of the largest cotton plantations in Arkansas at that time - over 32 miles² (10000 hectares). In 1923 two brothers named Leonard Slaton founded Slaton Motors with their father Fredrick Slaton on a piece of property west of present day Sherwood which they had purchased from JB Purcell for $30 per acre ($640 total). The company manufactured cars and trucks from 1924 to 1953 under several different names including Cimarron Motors & Truck Company; Ford Motor Company; Oldsmobile Corporation; Chevrolet Manufacturing Corporation; and Standard Oil Company before being sold to GM for $2 million on November 15th 1952 . Today , almost all production takes place at Flint Hills Assembly Plant just east of Sherwood off I-70 exit 191A (). Today many people still live close to their farms or businesses - most notably around Homes Ferry Road near present day Arkadelphia where many homes have been replaced with apartment complexes since 1955 when Little Rock city Limits expanded into rural Pulaski County..
