In 1949, Mr. Fenton’s son-in-law, George Higgs, started manufacturing his own kits which were slightly different from those his father had created. His kits included a brush and scrubber with cloth pads on each end, as well as a bucket filled with water and detergent. These kits were used to clean pistols and revolvers as well as shotguns and rifles. In 1951, Mr. Higgs’ son began producing his own Kits again using only brushes and soap bars instead of cloth pads on both ends for easier cleaning - this kit is still in use today! In 1957, Mrs. Jorgensen founded her own business called Jo-Ann’s Cleaners which produced “gun cleaner/soap boxes” which contained 3 bars of soap each (2 bar sizes). These boxes were delivered direct to homes by mail order! Mrs Jo Ann's Cleaners continued production until 1975 when they merged with another company to form one large company - American Home Supply! Sherwood, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Aldridge Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Sherwood were white settlers who came from Illinois in 1836. They built a cabin on the edge of what is now Sherwood Elementary School. A post office was established in 1841, and the town name was changed to Sherwood in 1851 when it became a farming community near Clarksville. In 1863, Sherman's army passed through Pulaski County on its way to California and abandoned most of what is now Pulaski County; so much of what became Sherwood was destroyed by fire that year that few remains can be found today. In 1865, General Nathan Bedford Forrest began his plan to move all blacks from East Tennessee into Oklahoma; he wanted them for labor as cotton farmers there had been little competition for African Americans since slavery ended. The black men who had not already leftSherwood came overland fromArkansas via Missouri and Illinois before railroads reached eastern Arkansas. When they got there they found that their new homes were very different from those where they had grown up: their old plantation homes were gone but their new ones were still large and comfortable with indoor plumbing and electricity; but these same homes also contained many reminders of how life back east must have been like before emancipation: vast amounts of slave-produced cornbread (a dish made out of cornmeal, water and salt) cooked on an open flame at one or more kitchen tables during meals; daily church services conducted outdoors with slaves serving as deacons (the highest rank given to black men); field work such as picking cotton or planting potatoes outside while women did the dishes; public schools which taught children reading, writing and arithmetic among other things; while churches which only preached abolitionism continued to do so unquestioned among some residents even into the early 20th century.] In 1907 the townsite around present-day Sherwood Elementary School burned down due to lightning strike; this event served as inspiration for director David Lean's film "The Great Gatsby". In 1951 Eisenhower named Old Hickory Boulevard after General Forrest's home state―one of several highwaysnamed after generals during his presidency including Iwo Jima War Memorial Highway (Hwy 21), National Defense Highway (Hwy 169), World War II veteran’s drive route Hwy 139 (Eisenhower Blvd.), Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway (I-565) and Gulfstream V Heritage Flightway]. The first settler in what would become Sherwood was James Cook in 1871. Cook and his family were among the early settlers who moved from Illinois to Arkansas Territory after being driven out of their home state by Kansas settlers. In 1881, John W. Goodwin started a small cotton gin in what is now downtown Sherwood and operated it until 1886 when he sold it to J.C. Holmes for $2,500. In 1902, Hemanus Coker began farming near modern-day Sherwood and built a large log cabin known as "The White House" around this time. A year later he married Minnie Fenton and they continued to farm there until their deaths in 1916 and 1923 respectively). Their farmstead still stands today within sight of downtown Sherwood.
