One of the most popular pastimes in Searcy, Arkansas, is target shooting. The town was founded by Germans in 1848 and has been a center for the sport ever since. In addition to targeting game animals, people have also enjoyed shooting targets at home or in local arcades. Target shooters first brought their activity to Searcy when they purchased land adjacent to the Courthouse square. There were two public ranges located on Market Street and Elm Street. These ranges were closed around 1912 due to lack of membership and competition from Rifle & Pistol Clubs of America (RPACA). The first privately-owned range opened on Green Street in 1916. It was operated by Chas Sibley and his son, Bob Sibley Sr., both natives of Searcy. At that time, Target Shooting Association (TSA) was formed as a result of this merger with RPACA. In 1951, TCA merged with NRA to form National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). Through NSSF, people began purchasing individual rights permits which allowed them to shoot any type of ammunition inside rifle range facilities across the United States without having to join an organization such as NRA or TPACA. As a result, Targetshooting became an Olympic sport! While there are still many private ranges operating throughout Arkansas today, NRA now regulates all handgun training facilities within states through its National Firearms Act program which oversees firearms safety measures among other activities!

On May 20, 1892, Searcy shot its first target at the new Southwestern Rifle Range. The range was located on homemade property off of Arkansas Highway 36. On October 1, 1898, the Searcy Rifle Club built a large building to house their new rifle range and shooting practices. In 1907, the Searcy Rifle Club moved to their present location in Searcy. On December 5th, 1912, the Arkansas Legislature passed an act providing for a state rifle range in Searcy. The authority for building and constructing the ranges was vested with the Arkansas Rifle Association (ARA). The NRA leased land from local farmers for use as a state rifle range which opened on January 11th, 1913. That same year saw the first national championship match between America’s two newest countries when Texas won by scores of 10-6 in what is now known as “The Great Arlington Match”. In 1924-1925 advancements were made to improve and enlarge both existing rifle ranges including installation of firedry towers and development of side targets that could be hit multiple times with one pull of the trigger
Searcy, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,971 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–SouthLittle Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Searcy was Fenton Moulton on July 14, 1872. In 1881, John C. Searcy founded the town of Searcy with land taken from the Cherokee Nation for distribution to settlers. In 1902, Harry Dickson bought 100 acres (40 hectares) of land in Searcy and built a school and Post Office there. In 1916 and 1917, local farmers organized a grain elevator to market their produce in central Arkansas; this helped spur development within the town and increase its population by 50%. In 1960, Searcy voters approved a 3-cent sales tax to help fund government services such as education and infrastructure improvements. This spurred economic growth within the community that continues today. The city annexed portions of Searcy in 1993 and 2000; these annexations increased population size by 5%, but did not change the demographics or economy of Serery because it remains an unincorporated community governed by its own board of trustees

Searcy is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Springdale–Fayetteville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Searcy was John Searcy who arrived there on July 24, 1819. He and his family were among the original pioneers of Arkansas Territory. In 1824, he became one of the first citizens of Searcy when he donated 640 acres (2 km²) to the town for development as a frontier community. The land that now makes up Searcy was originally part of Randolph County but was taken from Randolph by the Kansas Purchase in 1854. Searcy's growth began with its location on an old Native American trade route connecting Fayetteville and Lawrence, Kansas. During this time period many pioneer families made their homes here including those who founded Arkadelphia and Pine Bluff along this same trade route. This early Settlers had access to irrigation systems and other supplies which allowed them to thrive during these difficult times." In 1881, George Hinkle organized what would become known as "The Pioneers" - a group of small farmers who had moved into rural areas east of Fort Smith to seek new opportunities afterArkansas admission into the Union as a state in 1959. In 1890 Hinkle built what is now called Hinkle's Store which soon became one of Searcy's most popular businesses providing groceries and general merchandise to local residents as well as travelers passing through town on their way north or southward." In 1912 Purchased by J W McLaughlin established McLaughlin's grocery store adjacent to present day Hinkle's Store .This store would be renamed McLaughlin-Hinkley Stores in 1978 becoming one of only two stores remaining in Searcy following its closure by JW McLaughlin Son Incorporated in 1984." As early as 1924 there were plans for a post office located in present day Searcy but nothing came about until 1929 when Postmaster General Kossuth Ladd authorized construction of a building at 309 North Main Street with mailing privileges granted to local citizens." In 1938 mail service between Little Rock and Fort Smith bypassed Searchy due to construction on I-40 however mail continued arriving through Earps Bridge until it closed permanently late night in 1951." During World War II much activity took place within and around Searcy including manufacturing plants for munitions companies such as Bryant Arms Company (now Drummond Tool & Manufacturing) located on Old US Highway 6 near today's intersectionof FM 1510 and AR 171st Streets while also housing military units at nearby Ft Allens Army Base" .Atomic bombing raids against Hiroshima killed over 60%of all civilian deaths caused by Bombs during the war making it one of Japan’s worst peacetime disasters".On April 14th 1945 Japanese forces surrendered unconditionally at Red River Valley near Bixby Field ending World War II ." Post Office operations resumed May 15th 1945 with letters being delivered via truckloads from Ft Allens Army Base ."By 1954 only 3 buildings remained standing within downtown area... One still stands vacant next door to current day Hinkle’s store
