Searcy is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–South Little Rock metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlers in Searcy were Methodist missionaries from Kentucky who arrived in 1872. They built a church and school on the present-day site of Searcy High School. The original town name was "Jackson." A post office called Searcy was established in 1885, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1903, the Kansas Pacific Railway went into business here and built a depot and several miles of track to serve this community. The railroad's main line crossed the Arkansas River at Searcy; as word spread about this new town, local farmers began to build homes close to where the tracks crossed. By 1920, there were over 100 residents hereabouts. World War II brought many people to Searcy for military service; during that time, some farms near by were turned into airfields for use by the RAF or USAAF bombers stationed here during World War II. After the war ended, many people returned home and started anew on their farmsteads around Searcy – although some continued to live in Air Force barracks nearby until after cancellation of those units' leases by May 1945 (the end of World War II). Today’s residents are descendants of those pioneers who founded Searcy – Methodists remain predominant among them today (although other faiths also share common roots with Christianity). In addition to its namesake institution (Searcy High School), which has been open since 1922), Earls AFB - now known as Whiteman AFB - is one of town’s most important employers (and has had an impact on both social and economic development hereabouts).

Searcy was a small town in south-central Arkansas, and it is now part of the city of Little Rock. The population was 7,424 at the 2010 census. It is named after Captain James Searcy, an American Revolutionary War soldier who fought for the British. The first settler in Searcy was John Henniker, who arrived in 1827. By 1830, there were six people living in Searcy. In 1834, Colonel Nathaniel Lyon moved his family to Searcy from Union City, Missouri. Colonel Lyon had purchased 4 miles (6 km) of land from David Waddell in 1831 and built a log cabin on it. He also founded the first school in Searcy and donated $30 to its construction. In 1836–37, Captain Samuel French built a cabin on what is now the south side of Main Street near where he had earlier fished with his brother-in-law John Leman. French became known as "the father of Searcy." He married Eliza Aiken on July 12, 1840; she was the daughter of Major Elijah Aiken and Nancy Kittrell (née Hardee). They had six children: Samuel (1841–1914), Franklin (1843–1924), Emmeline (1846–1925), Lucy Jane (1849–1928), and Sarah Isabella Phelps French Douglass Claybourne(1851–1920). Captain Samuel French's death left his wife with four children to care for: Sarah; Eliza; Franklin; and their younger sister Lucy Jane Douglass Claybourne France (born 1850). Three years later Captain France's widow married General William Tipton Camden – son of General John Camden Tipton – making all five sisters joint owners of Frenchman’s Cabin Estates which they renamed Camden Place after him. It should be noted that all five sisters did not live at Frenchman’s Cabin Estates long enough to receive their own individual surnames! When Mrs. France died suddenly aged 67 years old in 1916 her estate passed through her daughters into trust to be used only for educate young women under 25 years old Female citizens over 25 must apply for an appointment before being allowed entrance into the home which can take one year
