Searcy is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway, AR-2 Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Searcy Township was Denton Sorenson on May 15, 1876. He and his family were pioneers who arrived in what is now Searcy from Illinois. They built their home on the east side of town near the present day intersection of US Highway 7 and Arkansas Avenue. Denton Sorenson's son John Alder (1877-1965) also settled in Searcy and operated a general store from 1918 to 1965. His grandson Randy Alder (1948-) still operates the store today as an entrepreneur with over 30 years experience. pioneer H Collins also moved to Searcy in 1881 and started a grocery store that remained open until it burned down in 1955. In 1907, Jens Olsen opened his own grocery store which became one of the major factors leading to growth for Searcy during prohibition era; he sold alcohol but kept some products such as meat and eggs available for purchase without selling it to customers undercover or through other means like bribery or theft. In 1922, Wm Stephenson opened his hardware store next door to Olsen's grocery store which eventually became known as Stephenson Hardware & Storage Company due to its prominent location within city limits at what is now State Street/Highway 97B south of downtown Little Rock before becoming known as Stephenson Hardware & Supply Co.; this company ceased operations in 1984 when it merged into Phelps Dodge Incorporated effective Jan 1st with all assets being transferred into PDSI stock ownership thereby dissolving Stephens Hardware & Supply Co., period! Wm Stephenson was one of many early entrepreneurs who helped make Searcy an important community by starting businesses that made local incomes possible for citizens while keeping essential services affordable for businesses - another hallmark of these successful businessmen- Mayor Donny Larson credits him with starting "the big box" Sears department stores located throughout northeast Arkansas when those stores began proliferating beginning around 1970! Over time these stores have become well respected symbols within our community dating back more than 50 years! As mentioned earlier, H Collins also moved to Searcy from Illinois circa 1881 and started a grocery store that remains open today which served as an anchor tenant for both Smith's Pharmacy (now defunct) across Main Street west of downtown Little Rock up until its closurearound 1955; this pharmacy too played an important role within our community by providing affordable drug prescriptions without requiring subterfuge or theft – another hallmark of this typelier businessperson!! Additionally H Collins ran several other small businesses including blacksmithing shop located on First Street between Broadway & South Streets prior to its closure around 1951; this business later reopened under new ownership as Blacksmiths On The Square since 1984!!! To date not only hasHTown been established but also numerous heritage landmarks associated with its namesake have been erected including: 3 main street squares - one north/south facingone east/west facing two high school football fields 2 state Capitol buildings 2 churches - Baptist (built 1870), Methodist (1912), Roman Catholic (1964), among others...several hundred residents currently call themselves "Searcyians"

Searcy was founded in 1871 by William Searcy, a white man and cattle rancher. The town became an important center for cotton production in the early 20th century. In the 1930s, Searcy was known as one of the most segregated towns in Arkansas. During World War II, it served as a base for the United States Air Force.

Searcy was founded in 1881 by George Searcy and his wife Elizabeth Hefner Searcy. George had come to the area from Illinois with his family in 1859. The Searces arrived on a Donation Land Claim granted to them by President James K. Polk in 1869. They named their new settlement after General John Fayette Butler, one of the heroes of the American Revolution who died in 1792 while fighting for independence from Great Britain. The town's first post office was established on November 15, 1881, and it served until it was discontinued on July 1, 1907. On October 6, 1889, Searcy became part of the newly formed Pulaski County when it was created from parts of Carter County and Monroe County. At its creation, Searcy consisted of just over a block square with a population of just under 100 people; today its population sits at 7,829 residents as well as 5 businesses located within its borders: Searcy Municipal Airport (IATA: LSKY), North State Fairgrounds (ISD: NSTF), South State Fairgrounds (ISD: SSTF), Earlsboro Baptist Church (EBC) and Earlsboro High School (HGH). In 1922–23 much work took place within Earlsboro Baptist Church before construction began on what would become North State Fairgrounds which opened on October 3rd 1923; this fairground hosted events such as livestock shows/ exhibitions/ Pageant competitions etc., until 1984 when it closed due to financial issues with attendance dwindling since then event attendance has ranged between 40-50K annually however there have been some major renovations including a new arena that seats 4500 spectators total and an expansion project that will add an additional 5000 square feet to the high school building which will house future dormitories along with other amenities such as a gymnasium/ pool etc... In 1965 Earlsboro High School remodeled their facilities into what is now called "The Dome". This project cost $2 million dollars and took two years to complete - including extensive renovation work inside and outside of the building which included new sidewalks, parking lot construction and installation of state-of-the-art lights and sound systems throughout the school complex making it one of only two high schools in Arkansas designated as "dome" style buildings statewide... Today's downtown area consists primarily of commercial development surrounding Interstate 10 connecting northward through downtown Kearny City towards Hazleton downriver while westward across I-10 past downtown Searcy onto Highway 9W leads back eastward into rural areas surrounding Quincy northwest Burkhardt southwest Fort Smith
