Searcy, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest incorporated municipality in Pulaski County and the second-smallest municipality in Arkansas after Little Rock. Gun targets have been a part of Searcy's history for many years. A post office called Searcy was established in 1872, and it continued to be in operation until 1959. In 1898, a gunsmith named John Ladd opened a shop in Searcy and became known as the "Father of Rifle Shooting." He made rifles and shotguns, as well as pistols and revolvers. His shop also served as an armory during World War II. In 1904, JH Payne opened his own gunshop on Main Street in Searcy and continued to provide firearms services until his death in 1984. In 1938, H C Vinson set up shop on Fourth Street in Searcy with his brother-in-law Floyd Wilkinson to sell target products online through their company Gun Shop internet sales. This business remains active today as HV Target Corporation (www.hvtargetcorp). The Vinson brothers were responsible for developing much of what we now know about target shooting etiquette and how to hit your target with accuracy while using modern ammo options like 7mm Remington Magnum rounds or .458 Winchester Special cartridges. They continue to play an important role not only within their family business but also through their alma mater – Southern Illinois University Carbondale – where they are honorary professors emeritus with specialties including rifle shooting (and other outdoor activities)

Searcy, Arkansas is a small city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 7,895 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The city is named for General John A. Searcy, who fought in the Mexican-American War and served as governor of Arkansas from 1877 to 1881. Searcy was founded in 1868 by Andrew Hinton and James Fenton as a log town on the Blanco River nearmodern day Little Rock. At its peak it had a population of 1,500 people and was known for its cotton gin and local cigars. In 1870 Searcy post office moved from Hinton's house onto what is now First Street to avoid being burned by Confederate forces during the Battle of Fort Sumter. The first store in Searcy open was Mrs. Beall's grocery on Main Street in 1872/3 with $600 worth of goods bought by her husband George Beall before he died three years later at age 47 years old while serving in the Union army during the American Civil War (1861-1865). In 1903 there were only 15 inhabitants living in Searcy; all but two were farmers or stockmen with one shopkeeper remaining until 1955 when Smith & Wesson began manufacturing handguns here which has continued to grow since then because of its location just outside Arkadelphia on White Sands Boulevard next door to adjacent Smith & Wesson Arms Inc., one of America's leading firearms manufacturers (now part of G&A Industries). Searcy has experienced rapid growth over recent decades due to its proximity to Arkadelphia/White Sands Boulevard - both economic nodes that have helped spur development around this vibrant centralArkansas community - as well as its status as an international tourist destination due to its dramatic landscape including Tooele Valley National Park within easy driving distance; historical sites such as Hinton’s Log Cabin dating back over 100 years; scenic drives such as Billingsgate Road through low lying hillsock country transitioning into rolling prairies bordering White Sands Blvd.; growing numbers of businesses catering specificallyto tourists including several Bed & Breakfasts along White Sands Boulevard; swimming pool, health club and cultural events throughout the year such as Folklorama®, Torchlightners® concerts etcetera

It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–East Little Rock metropolitan area. Searcy was founded on November 3, 1871 by Enoch Searcy and his wife Elizabeth Aiken Searcy as a small log settlement on the Arkansas River near present-day Greenville. The name "Searcy" originated from early Indian traders who called it "Shaarney". The first post office in Searcy was established in 1872; it was renamed Decatur in 1903. In 1911, Searcy incorporated as a city. On February 9, 1943, during World War II, Japanese forces bombed and burned most of what is now downtown Searcy while occupying the town during their campaign to drive out American forces from Burma (now Myanmar). In 1951 Mayor Floyd Jernigan announced that he would run for governor against Orval Faubus because many Arkansans felt that Faubus had not done enough to help them during the war years when much of their economy depended on support from outside resources such as gasoline and cottonseed oil exports. Jernigan won election but failed to reach agreement with Faubus about how to spend state money raised through sales taxes for war purposes which were then used to finance other government programs including education and social welfare initiatives statewide.

Searcy, Arkansas is a city in Faulkner County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 33,362 at the 2010 census. It is the sixth most populous city in Arkansas. The city was founded by white settlers in 1872 and named for General John E. Searcy who had served as governor of Arkansas from 1889 to 1892 and as military commander during the American Civil War. The first Target Archers Club was chartered in 1907 and operated out of a small store on Main Street until 1951 when a new building was erected on the same site which still stands today. On July 15th, 1912 an outdoor pistol shooting event took place at Searcy Municipal Auditorium with 273 participants from 24 states participating. On July 14th, 1928 an outdoor pistol shooting event took place at Searcy Municipal Auditorium with 476 participants from 27 states participating. In 1949 both indoor and outdoor Pistol shooting events were combined into one event which took place at Searcy Municipal Auditorium again with 476 participants from 27 statesparticipating this timeevent becoming known as “The Big One” it still remains one of the largest annual events conducted in Searcy today! In 1955 an indoor target range opened up which continued operation until 1984 when it closed due to lack of funding however the memories of those that participated still live on through monthly meetings held at North Little Rock Rifle & Pistol Range located across town!
