In 1824, Captain Humble founded the Humble Rifle Manufacturing Company in Searcy. This company produced rifles and shotguns under the name “Humble Rifle & Shotgun” until 1865. During this time, they produced over seventy firearms including rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers and other weapons. The company also built two churches in Searcy - one in 1827 and another in 1830. In 1857, Captain Humble sold his business interest in the company to Elisha Grayling who renamed it “Grayling & Humble” until 1870 when he sold it again to David Dixon who continued to operate it until 1898 when it came into ownership by George Waddell Jr.. During World War II, Searcy played an important role as an ammunition suppliers for various military units stationed throughout Arkansas. Many munitions factories were located within town limits which helped contribute to its growth during that time period. In 1969, Gopher Lock acquired all of the assets of Grayling & Humble Corporation including their firearms manufacturing facility located on State Street just north of Broadway Boulevard. Searcy, Arkansas is a small town located in northwestern Arkansas. The population was 1,564 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Searcy County. It lies on the Arkansas River and has a total area of 43 square miles (112 km²). The name Searcy comes from the Choctaw word "saraca," meaning "place where corn is stored." The first settler in Searcy County was James Fenton, who arrived in 1820. He named his farm "Fenton's Crossing," after himself and his brother John Fenton, who had preceded him on the trip westward from Missouri. The land where Searcy now stands was granted to George Washington Hunt by Governor John Trumbull in 1832. In 1836, General Nathan Bedford Forrest attacked Fort Smith and burned it to the ground; this event caused many people to flee to Searcy for safety. In 1881, when Earle Wickersham bought 3,000 acres (1 km²) of what would later become Searcy County from Nathaniel Wiggins, he named it Covecreek Farms because he felt that Covecreek Creek should be renamed for him since its source was within his own boundaries. William Haney developed some of these lands into what is now called Haney Ranching land east of town center which still belongs to Haney heirs today Today much of what made up Fouledriver until about 1920 still remains with only traces remaining such as a few old homes dating back to that time period but most notably a grain elevator built in 1916 that still stands there today next door to an Alliant Hale Chevrolet dealership

Searcy, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Hagle Goble Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was platted on March 14, 1871 by Jno. Searcy and Wm. Haught and named for General John Custer, who had fought in the Indian Wars and died in 1876 during the Battle of Washita River. The first school opened in Searcy on December 6, 1872. A post office called Searcy was established in 1875, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first store was built near what is now State Avenue and US 66; it operated from 1870 to 1905. In 1881, a sawmill was started here by Jno. Searcy & Bros., which continued operations until 1901 when it changed hands multiple times before being sold to Ladd & Whitney (now Phelps Dodge) for $147,000 In 1912 an addition to the original town square was completed when a two-story block of white oak buildings became known as "The Lodge" after Gompers Cotton Store Company president Isaac Sennett Lodge (1824-1910). This building served as both a grocery store and Masonic lodge from its inception until 1951 when it burned down due to termites eating through the roofline In 1923 an addition to downtown designed by architect Sanford Meier arrived with plans for shopping centers including banks (the First National Bank), movie theaters (National Amusement Park), stores (J&B Drug Store), restaurants (Lakeside Cafe), and three blocks of residential neighborhoods which would have been accessible only by car or streetcar From 1930 until 1973 there were no schools within walking distance of any residents other than private schools located outside of town limits
In 1881, Searcy was a small town of about 350 people. It was located in the northeast corner of Arkansas and had two markets - one on the east side of town and one on the west side. In 1907, it had a population of 1,000. The post office closed in 1918.
