Searcy was founded in 1827 by Daniel Searcy and his brother John. The first post office at Searcy was established in 1830. In 1841, the town had a population of 350 people and it became a railroad junction in 1872. The town experienced prosperity during the late 1800s with its woolen mills, livery stable, and grocery store. However, during World War I the town saw high levels of military activity as it served as an artillery point on the Fort Smith-Arkansas line. By 1945, Searcy's population had declined to 100 people and it closed its doors for good in 1951. Today, there is only one building remaining from when Searcy had a population of 350 people: the Daniel Searcy House which is located on State Route 705 between Arkadelphia and Wynne.
The town of Searcy was founded in 1827 and named for General John Searcy, a hero of the Mexican-American War. The town grew rapidly after the opening of the Little Arkansas River Railroad in 1872, and by 1907 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1925, Searcy became one of the original towns in Pulaski County, Arkansas.
