Searcy is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Ardennes Combined Statistical Area. The first settlers in Searcy were James and Jane Searcy who traveled downriver from Bentonville to found the community on July 8, 1872. James Searcy had been born in Kentucky and died in 1872 while searching for a new home for his family. His wife Jane made the trip downriver with their children and they all arrived safely at Searcy on July 10th. The first store was built around 1896 by John Pritchard and his wife Sarah Pritchard. Mrs. Pritchard’s father-in-law operated the store until he died in 1902. They also erected a frame house which still stands today within the town limits as property of the current town government (Homeschooling Unit #1). In 1902, when Arkansas statehood came about, Searcy became one of its initial towns. The post office was established there on November 3rd of that year under JF Bennett and remain so to this day; however, effective December 1st 1901 it became known as “Arkansas City” due to its location across from what is now Arkadelphia Airport (the original name for what is now North Little Rock). On November 3rd 1898, Searcy residents voted overwhelmingly to become an incorporated village with a village hall which still stands within the boundaries of present day Searcy. At that time there were just six dwellings within our limits: four single bedroom or group homes built by local businessmen Harry Sizemore and Willis Ellerbe circa 1905-1907 and one two story frame building erected by George Ladd about 1915/16 used as a schoolhouse until 1927/28 when it burned down during prohibition lows (it reopened as an insurance agency after prohibition ended). During World War II much activity took place within our borders including blacks working in nearby Fort Smith munitions plants while other citizens worked inside our townshall manufacturing munitions for war production However we lost many residents serving overseas during those wars including 5 WW2 veterans who are buried at Arden Cemetery located adjacent to present day Fort Smith . During peacetime we reverted back to our previous smalltown form but some activity did occur such as playing football on Arden MeadowsField outside city limits though this event has sadly come to an end since 1997 thanks largely to development adjacent thereto! In recent years some redevelopment has occurred near downtown including construction of a large retail plaza typesharing services etc however most activities take place along US Highway 65 corridor just south of town limit considering it bisected then newly annexed by town Limits thereby terminating any potential redevelopment possibilities!

Searcy is an unincorporated community in Searcy County, Arkansas, United States. It was founded in 1887 by James A. Searcy and his brothers John and George. The community had a post office from 1887 to 1915. The community was named for General Nathaniel P. Searcy, who fought with the Confederate army during the American Civil War.
In 1866, Searcy was a small town of about 500 people. The year before, Arkansas had become a state and the town was named for General Andrew Johnson. The first post office in Searcy was established in 1868. In 1870, the population of Searcy reached 1,000 people. Searcy became an important center for cotton production during the late 19th century. It also hosted a number of businesses including a store, mill and bakery. By 1900, the extent of agricultural production in Searcy had dwindled and it had only 6 residents remaining. However, it continued to be a significant cultural center with its own newspapers and theatre. In 1935, Searcy's last resident died; however, the community continued to thrive until around 1990 when most of its buildings were demolished due to erosion from the nearby White River.
