It became an agricultural center with growing crops such as cotton, corn, soybeans, and pumpkins; but also many manufacturing industries sprang up during its boom years including breweries (Pine Bluff Brewery being one), car plants (Ford Motors having their main plant here from 1923 until 1990), photography studios (The Hakeem Laughlin Camera Company having been founded here in 1916), lumberyards (The Mount Carmel Lumberyard Company being started here by James Fenton in 1902), foundry companies (Heinrich & Co.) and other businesses that continue to operate today including what is now known as JB's Pizza which opened its doors on Main Street in 1984. In recent years much attention has been paid to Rogers' history due to its significance within Arkansas' political landscape as well as its ties to both state governments represented there - especially since three members of the current Arkansas Legislature were born or raised here: former State Senator Rick Davis (who later served as lieutenant governor under then-Governor Mike Huckabee); current Lieutenant Governor Jeff Long; and Representative Todd Young who represents District 4A which includes parts of Rogers along with Pine Bluff and Arkadelphia townships. As such,Rogers has come to be recognized as an important community connector within Arkansas' Legislative Branch - something few larger towns can say for themselves!

Rogers was founded in 1881 by George Rogers. The original Rogers family farmstead was located on the present-day corner of A and G Streets. In 1901, when Arkansas became a state, the family sold their land to the Arkansas Post Office Department. From 1916 until his death in 1953, General Manager of the post office, W.C.B. Rogers donated land for a new post office building on what is now Pulte Drive.
