In Rogers, Arkansas as in most other towns in the Ozarks of eastern Missouri, ammunition manufacturing and sales began in 1854. That year, a man named John P. Hackett opened his first store there, selling shotgun shells and rifle bullets. The town quickly became known for its Ammo production and the local Merchants would not stop buying from Hackett until he closed his store in 1857. The Ammo industry continued to grow throughout the 1860s with new manufacturers opening up all over the state of Arkansas. In 1865, a company by the name of Armoury was founded in Rogers by C.B. Smith and Wm Hargrave with the goal of supplying ammunition to Confederate forces fighting against northern troops under General Ulysses S. Grant during the American Civil War. By 1870, Armoury had become one of the largest suppliers of ammunition in Arkansas with their Chattanooga branch serving as an main distribution center for both Union and Confederate forces alike. Throughout this time period Ammunition Manufacturing companies operated at various locations throughout Arkansas including: Armoury Factory at West Point; Browning & Company near Little Rock; Millington & Sons near Mountain Home; Haygood Arsenal on I-20 outside Fayetteville; South Side Armory on State Line Road just south of Springdale; White City Arms on Railroad Avenue east of Springdale; Baltimore Bullets Factory located between Camden and Eutaw Springs (now north Camden); Richards Brothers Ammunition Plant at Searcy Lake northwest of Searcy; Joplin Arsenal located just outside Joplin on Route 66 (now I-40) adjacent to Mount Carmel Baptist Church which served as ammo storage facilities for many years before being sold off to private individuals). As Ammunition Manufacturing Companies grew larger they started developing their own arsenals complete with their own production lines and storage depots where rounds were made into guns or grenades, projectiles were created from lead shot or tungsten carbide projectileshelles were composed primarily of brass or bronze while smokeless powder munitions such as explosive shells were invented by many different men within these factories over time becoming standard issue across America’s military landscape beginning with muzzleloaders through rifles to pistols through machineguns before eventually becoming artillery pieces overnight during World War II when metalworking resources became available after Germany’s surrender

Rogers, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. Rogers is located on the Arkansas-Oklahoma border and is bordered by Oklahoma to the north and east, White Sands National Monument to the south, and Indian Territory to the west. The town's nickname "The Happy Village" comes from its being one of only a few towns in Pulaski County that remain completely rural. Rogers was founded in 1903 by John Rogers as a cattle ranch. He died in 1927 and his wife Ethel took over management of the ranch until her death in 1954. The town was first named Poston but changed to Rogers in honor of John Rogers' father-in-law who also had been instrumental in its establishment. The post office opened in 1904 and served until 1959. It was renamed Rogers after John's grandson Donald Poston Jr., who became mayor of Rogers during its early years. In 1957, postmastership passed from Donald Poston Jr.'s family to his wife Jeanette Poston before she passed away in 1971; it then went through three sons before it passed back toDonald POSTON JR.. In 1907, Pte Royce Wickersham began construction of Rogers High School which would become one of the most prominent high schools within Pulaski County. Wickersham was an accomplished builder and designed many important structures within Rogers including First Baptist Church (1907), White Sands Casino (1911),Rogers Elementary School (1914), Girdler Grammar School (1920),Rogers United Methodist Church (1925) and finally neighboring Greenwood High School which opens Doors on November 2nd 1935 with 553 students inside! In 1951 annexation granted by Pulaski County madeRogers part of the new county seat - McAlester!
