When North Little Rock, Arkansas was founded in 1907, its residents knew that their city would be a gun-friendly place. In 1986 American Armory Corporation was merged into American Outdoor Brands Incorporated who then took over operations of Armoury News Company from Western International Publications Incorporated (WIPI), which had been operating the business since 1956. After years of growth for NFA Industries LLC - owner of America’s largest handgun manufacturer - Armalite Industries * assumed full ownership of Armoury News Company effective November 1st 1998 under duress from AWB* following AWB’s attempted purchase by Colt Industries plc., leading to a power struggle between AWB management team including CEO Don Hinrichs [*#1] over control of NFA’s most valuable asset.* In September 1999 AWB announced it would sell armoury news company assets to Magpul USA*[#2], but this offer was rejected by Hinrichs who instead initiated legal action against Colt Industries plc.*[#3]. After months long court proceedings Magpul USA agreed to sellArmoury News COMPANY TO NORTH AMERICAN ARMS INC.*[4] constituting perhaps one of biggest corporate acquisitions ever made in U.S.-based retail arms market.* [5] As part S&P 500 company parent AMR Corp acquired approximately $2 billion worth total armament sales worldwide from 1987 through 2006 totaled almost 26% percent increase over all annual sales growth period encompassing prior five years!!!!
