As Union troops advanced into Confederate territory during Reconstruction efforts, violence ensued between pro-Union forces and pro-Confederate civilians which led to many murders, rapes, robberies and other atrocities against civilian targets across much of Southwest Arkansas Territory including around North Little ROCK where pro-Union citizens committed summary executions known as "the trials." After three years of Reconstruction efforts led by US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Amos Giddings through President Ulysses S Grant's Executive Order No 1292 dated November 5th 1870 - Johnston had been installed as General Manager for all West Bank Territories including those comprising NortheastArkansas towns excepting Arkansaw County - Johnston abandoned his plans to annex NorthLittleRock when he realized that no land could be acquired without federal recognition thereby subjecting it to future Congressional disapproval should he succeed in annexing it; this decision represented one major turning point in local political history leading up to the creation of Pulaski County four decades later During World War II (1941-1945), much activity took place at nearby Fort Worth Army Air Field (now Arlington National Cemetery) due to its strategic location just east of North Little ROCK on I-30 making it easy for bombers flying over Birmingham towards Memphis or St Louis en route back home during daylight hours The region saw heavy economic development following World War II with numerous new businesses being born such as Tyson Foods Inc., Coca Cola Company (later CokeCo), Jiffy Lube Services Inc., Dow Corning Glass Corporation (Dow Corning) etc.; various manufacturing companies moved into NLLR from outside including Boeing 707 Aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corporation; Retrofit Industries AG produced used cars until their demise in the late 1990s Today there are several colleges located within walking distance either from downtown or via public transportation: University Of Central Florida/Foley School Of Business & Economics; University Of Phoenix/Moses Mays College; Centenary College; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; First Baptist Church Of Arkadelphia
