In 1915, North Little Rock became one of the first cities in America to approve womens' suffrage. In 1922, North Little Rock became an all-white city when it switched from an all-male town to a municipally segregated municipality. The act that created these municipal boundaries also designated North Little Rock as the capital of Arkansas.
