Mountain Home, Arkansas is a small town located in the Ozarks of central Arkansas. It was founded in 1881 by pioneers who were refugees from the American Civil War. Mountain Home is a small town in southern Arkansas, located on the banks of the Little River. In its early days, mountain home was a stagecoach stop for travelers on their way to and from Memphis. By 1881, the population had grown to about 150 people and the town began to be called Mountain Home because of its location on top of a mountain. The first post office was established in 1888, and by 1907, there were also telephone lines and electricity available in the community. In 1915, Mountain Home became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and Board of Aldermen. The town experienced significant growth during World War II as many local businesses went into production for the war effort. After the war ended, economic prosperity declined until 1990 when there was another major influx of residents due to new development along the Little River. The current population is about 350 people who live within walking distance of downtown Mountain Home.

Mountain Home is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway metropolitan area. The community formed in 1885 when the railway reached it from Cairo, Arkansas. Its name comes from Mount Hope Mountain, which is 1,815 feet (500 metres) high and features a summit crater that gives its name to the community. The first post office in Mountain Home was established on December 15, 1885 by Wm Smedley and others. In 1907 the name of the community was changed to Bellefontaine after Mrs Bellefontaine who had donated land for a school and church in that year. A windmill was built near Mountain Home in 1903 by George Pitzer and became operational that year. A two-story school building was erected in 1915 by Jno Blythe for $4,000 with funds contributed by Mrs Bellefontaine. A three-story addition added to the original building were funded with donations from local farmers as well as Mr & Mrs Beattie Fenton who donated land for an athletic field and park around 1935. In 1955 an airport construction project led to increased traffic into and out of Mountain Home so much so that gas stations were opened throughout town to accommodate customers on their way to or from airports located nearby such as Little Rock Air Force Base and Fort Smith Air National Guard Base both located less than one mile away from town limits on either side of US Highway 65 south of town limits on US Highway 82 east of town limits.. At this time there were only two churches in town - First Baptist Church which was built in 1925 adjacent tophysical education complex built 1936 - all other buildings including schools/homes were completed prior to 1957 when Main Streetachers Congregational Church opened followed by First Presbyterian Church 1959 also becoming operational 1970s Today mountain home still has active businesses like a grocery store along with many new houses being constructed just outside of incorporated city Limits
Mountain Home is a small town located in central Arkansas. It was founded in 1885 by J.D. Mason and his wife, Jennie. The community grew rapidly and soon had a post office, school, store, and several churches. In 1912 the community renamed itself Mountain Home after its founder's home in Maine.
