Mountain Home is an unincorporated community located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is a small town on the edge of the Ozark Mountains, about 15 miles north-northwest of Little Rock and 10 miles east of Fayetteville. The town was founded in 1881 by Heman S. Farnsworth and his family as a seasonal stop on their wagon train traveling through the region between Fayetteville and Little Rock. Farnsworth named his community Mountain Home because he thought it would be more pleasant to live near high peaks than near bottomless valleys. By 1910, Mountain Home had grown to include a post office, school, sawmill, hotel, railroad depot, and several dozen homes. The name may have been chosen because of its resemblance to Mount Rushmore National Monument in South Dakota (the peak's height is 4,624 feet). In 1951 the United States Postal Service moved Mountain Home from its original location on Red River Road to what is now Gans Hill Road; however mail continued to be delivered from the old Post Office until 2007. In recent years much attention has been given to Mountain Home due to its role as home base for Operation Crossroads drone strikes conducted by President Obama over Afghanistan and Pakistan during his first term in office. As part of this effort American forces often use nearby RAF Alconbury airfield for refueling operations while also conducting airstrikes against targets inside Afghanistan or across Pakistani territory using Predator drones flying over that country from neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia or Qatar . Additionally mountain home has become an important staging ground for various protests against U.S military activities both domestically (such as Occupy movements) and abroad ( such as those protesting drone Strikes ). Despite all these reasons mountain home remains a sleepy little town with few residents other than local government employees living there full time along with occasional visitors who come for short bursts only

Mountain Home is a town located in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,771 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock-Port Clinton Micropolitan Statistical Area. Mountain Home was founded in 1907 by John Witherspoon and his family. Witherspoon purchased 640 acres (240 hectares) of land east of the Arkansas River from the Coffey brothers. He named his new town Mountain Home after home he had recently left in Scotland to become a rancher and scout for a new ranch in what is now Arizona Territory. In 1912, Witherspoon's son-in-law, Charles Hance, donated an additional 172 acres (70 ha) to the town for development purposes. In 1914, Mountain Home became the first community in Arkansas to be organized as a village with a platted plat; it consisted of only 15 homes and had no public services other than water supply and waste disposal. By 1916, however, Village status had been re-established as an official function of the post office which opened that year on Main Street nearpresent Day Springdale Boulevard. In 1922, when Little Rock became an incorporated city Limits were established within which municipalities could not expand without approval from their respective city limits boards; this prohibition applied also to Mountain Home Village which appears on maps as late as 1927 but possibly earlier because it may have been incorporated before that date according to one source By 1934 there were over 350 residents living in Mountain Home Village; by 1940 all but five residents had moved away although many still resided within its boundaries providing limited services such as mail delivery or health care The last resident departed in 1945 when all Post Office functions were transferred to Fort Smith Municipal Airport where they continue today . It should be noted that while mountainhomevillage appeared on some deeds dated prior to 1967 it most likely began operatingirtsulting from 1924 through 1927 when post office operations relocated from downtown Little Rock .
