Mountain Home, Arkansas was the location of a number of gun slings in its past. One such event took place on October 12th, 1892. A group of men from Mountain Home travelled to Wintersville, Tennessee to take part in a rifle range match. While there, they came across a cannon that had been abandoned and used as an artillery piece by the Confederate army during the American Civil War. The men decided to take it home with them and use it as their personal firearm. They called it "The Gun."
Mountain Home is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,690 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Arkansas City–Fort Smith metropolitan area. The first settlers in Mountain Home were Samuel and Ann Hunt who arrived in 1859. They built a cabin on the banks of the Little River. In 1865, they married Sarah Capps and moved to Mountain Home. They had two children: Samuel and Anna Hunt Hinton (1866-1957). Sarah died young from tuberculosis; her husband continued to live there with their three children until his death in 1957. In 1889, Lester Sitton settled near the intersection of U.S Route 50 and State Road 810 in what is now known as East Mountain Home Township (from which it got its name). He purchased 640 acres of land east of Highway 20 for $4 per acre, making him one of the largest landowners in that area at that time. Sitton began development on his property which would eventually become Mountain Home. In 1913, Wm Jeferson bought about 100 acres south of Sitton's land from him for $10 per acre ($2/acre at that time). Jeferson developed this land into what became known as West Mountain Home Township (the township boundaries changed several times during its history). In 1915, Wyatt Earp bought 160 acres northwest of where Jeferson had developed his land for $5 per acre ($1/acre at that time). This purchase gave Earp unlimited access to resources on his property which he would use to build up his business empire including cattle ranching and mining operations over the years. All these activities would ultimately lead to Eagle Rock Cemetery being established on some of Earp's land adjacent to where Fort Worth Avenue currently meets Highway 31A

The white-water rafting industry is one of the most popular activities in Arkansas and Mountain Home is one of its biggest tourist destinations due to its natural resources as well as its history and culture. Some of the famous watersheds located within easy driving distance of Mountain Home include White River, Blue Nile, Pigeon Forge Creek, Forked River and more. There are also several golf courses located within close proximity of town that can accommodate plenty of golfers looking for a challenging round or two outdoors. One important aspect that has contributed greatly to Mountain Home’s lengthy history is its agricultural production which has been an integral part of local economy for centuries. Today, many small businesses dot the downtown area providing goods and services to residents as well as tourists who visit town during various intervals throughout year including Christmas time and Easter time when rates go up significantly!
The first settlers in Mountain Home, Arkansas were farmers who arrived in the early 1800s. The community was founded in 1853 by a group of men from Missouri. The town was named after George W. Mountain, a prominent local landowner and politician. After years of growth and development, Mountain Home became an important stop on the Santa Fe Trail. In 1916, the community voted to become an incorporated town. During World War II, Mountain Home was one of the few American towns that supported the war effort. The population increased during the post-war boom period, and by 1960 it had reached its peak. However, economic problems began to emerge in the late 1960s and early 1970s; this led to a decline in population and business activity over the next several decades.
