Maumelle is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Maumelle is located just east of the Arkansas River on the edge of Arkadelphia National Forest. The town started as a small farming community in 1871 when Elisha and Fannie Beavers bought land from Colonel John C. Smith for $1 per acre (2¢ per sq mi). They began to grow cotton and other crops, but they found it difficult to sell their produce because there were no markets in the area. In 1881, they built a school and store on what would become Main Street. In 1916, they donated land to the city of North Little Rock for a municipal park that now includes Old Main Park and several playgrounds and trails. In 1965, Maumelle became one of five towns in Pulaski County to be placed within the new Little Rock–North Little Rock–Arlington metropolitan statistical area. The following year, it also became one of three rural areas within that area to be designated as "primary" or "core" villages by the state government; this designation meant that residents had more control over their own affairs and could receive services such as public schools, health care, fire protection, trash pickup and water systems from local governments outside their village boundaries. In 2006-2007 property values increased significantly around town due to development plans for two large high-rise office towers being developed next door by an unrelated party adjacent toArkadelphia National Forest while little or no effort was made by either Pulaski County government or any other party towards developing parks/town amenities which are needed both economically and nutritionally due population growth especially near I-540 & I-30 corridors; however some progress has been made recently with purchase & installation of new streetlights

Maumelle is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,623 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock– derivative city of Arkadelphia– and Pine Bluff, Arkansas Combined Statistical Area. Maumelle's name means "place of milk" in French. The town was founded by Poffenheimer and other German settlers in 1874. The first post office in Maumelle was established on December 17, 1874, by John Waddell. The first store in the town was opened by J.C. Payne on February 11, 1875; it became known as the Wilcox Store. A second store called the White House Store was open from 1890 to 1893; it closed when Julius Waddell purchased it and changed its name to the Maumelle Store Inc.. A Masonic Lodge (F&B No., #4) was chartered on November 15, 1889; it served as the only Masonic lodge in Pulaski County until 1907 when a new Lodge (#5) was chartered with a building at 309 Main Street which still stands today. In 1908 an agreementwas made between local farmers and Coca-Cola Bottling Coorporated to produce soft drinks for distribution through local stores under the brand name "Arkansas Delta". In 1915 this agreement ended when Coke decided not to distribute soft drinks through local stores any longer because of antitrust concerns with other companies operating similar operations statewide at that time. In 1923 Holy Cross Episcopal Church dedicated its new parish church located just east of town near US Route 6 north of I-30 on what is now State Route 316 (Units 2 & 4). This church eventually became St Joe's Catholic Church after major construction began on that facility which included a main altar area larger than any existing Catholic churches in Little Rock or Arkadelphia combined... By 1930 there were over 50 different religious organizations united under one roof within what would become Maumelle Parish... remaining Catholics worshipped at Holy Cross until 1965 when they moved out East and formed their own parish named Our Lady Of Lourdes also located east of town next to State Route 316... By 1990 there were only 8 families living withinMaumelle limits while total population had increased to 1,623 people...Today much like then many residents are descended from those who arrived here long ago including schoolteachers and nurses who have helped shape our community into what we know today
