The use of gun lights for law enforcement purposes originated about 1830 when American officers began using them as night vision equipment on their horses during arrests. The early gunsights that were developed in America featured metal sighting disks with pointers that could be rotated to point in any direction. However, these devices proved difficult to use at night and were eventually replaced by an improved design which used lenses instead of pointers. This new type of light was called a “yardarm” because it consisted of a short tube with lensed ends connected at one end by a flexible tube. It wasn’t until 1868 that the first firearmsmanufacturers started designing rifles fitted with gunlights. These rifle models featured illuminated sights that could be turned on and off like headlights while also being able to track targets by means of eye movement alone or through cooperation with other instruments such as telescopes. There is no one definition of Marion, Arkansas. It could be a small town in the Ozarks or a large city in the Southeast. Whatever its defining characteristics, Marion is home to more than 10,000 residents and offers many opportunities for businesses and individuals to succeed. Marion is located in Pulaski County on the Mississippi River about 25 miles west of Little Rock and 25 miles east of Fayetteville. The population was estimated at 11,500 in 2000, making it the 9th most populous county in Arkansas. The county seat is Marshalltown. The history of Marion begins with white settlers who arrived during the 1840s. They started out as farmers but soon began trading goods with the Sioux Indians near present-day Marshalltown. In 1851, when Nashville became a city, traders from Memphis sent inquiries to Arkansans about purchasing land near what is now Marion because they thought that this would be an ideal location for a cotton gin and other slave plantations that were being established south of Nashville. A group of men led by James Sennett acquired 2,000 acres (8 km2) around present-day Marshalltown in 1852 and began developing it into what is now known as Marion County. By 1857, 1 mile (1 km) wide strips of land were surveyed along both banks of the Mississippi River for rice plantations that would become known as “the Marshes” due to their fertile soil conditions. In 1865 Jasper Cockerill purchased 640 acres (240 ha), including all of what today makes up Marion County, from John Mims for $5 per acre ($62 total). This purchase marked the beginning of agricultural production on what are now our streets and homes; Cockerill had realized that there was potential for this area to grow crops even without irrigation systems because there was so much water available nearby from underground springs and rivers. After years of hard work by early pioneers like Captains Elisha Ware and Amos Lawrence – who each founded their own businesses – development continued rapidly throughout the late 19th century thanks to new transportation methods such as railroads which arrived in earnest during World War I when demand for munitions grew dramatically across America following rebels’ successful rebellion against Ulysses S Grant’s presidencybridge over Mexico City

Marion, Arkansas is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Southern Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first residents in Marion were people who migrated from Tennessee in 1836. They built a log cabin on the edge of what is now downtown Marion and began to farm the land. The first post office was established in 1838 and was called "Hickory." In 1858, a school was started in Marion and it operated until 1893. The first store opened in 1909 and it was called "The Hardware Store." In 1916, the town had its first church which served as both parish and community center until 1978 when it became known as "Stoker's Chapel." In 1921, there were twenty-one businesses operating within one mile of where Marion stands today. By 1999, that number had decreased to eleven businesses. However, due to its role as an agricultural center for much of Pulaski County during this time period, Marion has continued to be an important economic engine for the town over these years. In 1970/71 (the early years of the 21st century), there was significant construction activity taking place within one mile of downtown Marion due to advances made by then- Mayor Rick Simscomb with support from then- Governor Harvey Payne Jr.. This included new roads and infrastructure projects such as Main Street Reconstruction which improved pedestrian access and vehicular traffic flow while also enhancing public transportation options; renovations to local high schools which increased enrollment opportunities; addition of new health clinics; additions to municipal buildings including a library; development of two new parks totaling 357 acres - Park Place Boulevard Park & Recreation Center & Patton Park - each providing ample open space for physical education/sports activities among other uses; renovation/construction of existing courthouses - including Main Street Courthouse renovation which included installation of green roofs and stormwater management systems; restoration/replacement (2006)of several churches within one mile - All Saints Episcopal Church (1921), Holy Cross Catholic Church (1892), Stoker's Chapel (1978) New expansion includes multiple housing units completed since 2006 along with commercial areas near main streets Barsheba Road & Cumberland Avenue
In 1871, the first white people arrived in Marion County. They were Methodist missionaries who named the county after their religious philosophy. The first post office was established in this county in 1876. In 1911, Marion became a U.S. Territory and was under the jurisdiction of Arkansas for two years before being transferred to Oklahoma.
