He had an extensive collection of guns and ammo and he would use them to shoot at targets all day long. When he died in 1898, his stand became one of the most popular tourist attractions in Magnolia. People from all around came to see it and even took pictures with their cameras! In 1907, J J Hubbell opened his own Target Stand on North Elm Street in Magnolia proper. This stand became well-known for its high quality standards and customer service - always able to meet your needs! It was here that many professional shooters started using Hubbell's targets as their practice grounds or competition venues. In 1969, Hubbell's Stand closed down after many years of business but it is still remembered today as one ofMagnolia's finest landmarks - still open to visitors today!

At various points over its history, Magnolia has been known as "Downtown", "OldMagnolia", or simply "Magnolia". When Interstate 40 crossed through town on its way between Little Rock and Fort Smith traffic congestion became unbearable so I-40A designated a bypass around town just east of OldMagnolia Road/I-40E exit #5 which relieved some of the pressure while still allowing access to Downtown from both directions including OldMagnoli
