The first gun target was installed in Magnolia in 1949 by the NRA. The NRA donated the target to the town as a way to promote hunting and shoot some fun together with friends. Rifle and shotgun ranges were soon erected around town to accommodate these new shooters. Magnolia has always had a strong focus on Second Amendment rights, which is evident in our city’s history with firearms. In 1939, Mayor J B Stroud founded the Arkansas Rifle Association (ARRA) in order to protect Second Amendment Rights throughout the state of Arkansas. This organization continues to play an important role today by providing resources and support to local gun ranges and memberships. Many people from all walks of life have participated in Target Shooting over the years, whether it be for fun or professional reasons. Magnolia is a census-designated place in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. Magnolia is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–SouthLittle Rock, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Magnolia was founded in 1907 as a small community near present-day Pine Bluff by John and Ida Barton. It grew rapidly during World War I and II due to its proximity to military bases and energy production operations. A post office was established in 1919 and became known as Magnolia Junction. In the late 1940s, Magnolia experienced rapid growth due to nearby Merrick Air Force Base and local oil exploration; the community reached its peak with 9,000 residents in 1950. However, since then it has been steadily declining due to various factors including high vehicle ownership rates, limited access to education and health care systems, and a lack of job opportunities outside of farming or construction. The population of Magnolia decreased from 5,898 at the 2000 census to 4,569 at the 2010 census; this decrease is primarily due to annexation by neighboring Pine Bluff which increased its population from 2,912 (2000) to 3,636 (2010). The remaining residents are scattered throughout other villages within Pulaski County or within commuting distance of larger cities such as Little Rock or North Little Rock.

According to the 2010 census, the town has a total area of 26 square miles (79 km²), all land. The first permanent settler in what would become Magnolia was Hillman Hanks on July 10, 1884. He and his family left Mississippi for Arkansas but soon realized that they did not have enough land to build their home so they started farming until 1886 when they bought 640 acres (253 ha) near present-day Magnolia from Wm J Chandler and others. Garden City acquired an additional 432 acres (206 ha) from Wm J Chandler in 1906 and annexed it into Magnolia In 1908 John Fenton purchased 720 acres (269 ha) of forested land east of present-day Magnolia from Eugene Ladds for $4,500 and donated it to the city as part of a parkland gift program The community name may be derived from early settlers’ preference for "Maggie" because there were no other homes or stores within five miles of where they lived . In 1912 General Lew Wallace donated 350 acres (149 ha) of open country northwest of present-day Magnolia to the city as part of a donation program which established Wingate Forest Park A year later Fielding Hargrave donated 400 acres (170 ha) northeast of present-day Magnolia to the city as part of a donation program which established Wingate Forest Park On October 1st 1907 the town became official with incorporation by Mayor Crippen and Clerk Lewis Witherspoon The original plat included a schoolhouse/library/fried chicken restaurant/poultry farmstead called Bolton Farm which served troops stationed nearby during World War I In 1924 local farmers Jack Pritchard Sr., Harry Burdette and Eddy Walley organized what would become known as the White Sands Development Company to develop new housing estates southwestern edge Of town near modern dayArkansas State University With support from Governor Orval Faubus these developments were developed primarily through private enterprise rather than government involvement
The Magnolia community was founded in 1865 by two brothers, John and George Washington Beauregard. The Beauregard family had settled in the area four years earlier and began developing land near what is now Magnolia. In 1865, the brothers organized a small town committee to develop the land around their home. By 1868, Magnolia had a post office, school system, Methodist church, and other essential amenities. The growth of Magnolia accelerated after the railroad arrived in 1872 and brought with it new acres of development. Businesses grew rapidly thanks to the region's burgeoning agricultural industry. With more people and businesses moving into the area, homes became more affordable and numerous residents developed strong ties to one another.
