In Little Rock, Arkansas, the gun magazines of the 1800s were a major part of local life. The first magazine in Little Rock was the Arsenal, which opened in 1814. It was followed by the Republican and Territorial Rifle Clubs in 1846 and 1847, respectively. The first gun club in Arkansas was formed at Fort Smith on November 5, 1851 by two citizens, Nathaniel Heard and Edward Huggins. The first rifle match held at Fort Smith took place on December 3; it resulted in a victory for the club over rival rifle clubs from Arkansas City and Springdale. The success of these early gun clubs led to others being founded throughout the state. The Republican Rifle Club organized its own building at 7th and Main Streets in Little Rock on October 12, 1860; this club became known as “the Arsenals” because it served as their primary headquarters until 1904 when they moved to new facilities at 601 W Capitol Ave., Suite 401. With so many local organizations active during this time period there is no definitive list of all of the Gun Magazines located in Little Rock; however, some general information about these publications can be gleaned based off historical records and interviews with employees who operated them during that time period. One such publication that experienced significant growth during this era was the Arkansan (published monthly). This paper began publication on May 1, 1882 under the name The Arkansas Times-Star (later renamed The Arkansas Democrat). After briefly publishing twice per week for one year before moving to fortnightly format late in1882/early 183/, Arkansan reached an average circulation of 1001 copies per issue between February 1886 and March 1888 before transitioning permanently to weekly print format effective April 6th 1889. It is interesting to note that while Arkansan enjoyed high circulation numbers from its inception through its final print run (~1100 issues/year), it ultimately failed to gain wide public acceptance among Arkansan’s target audience due largely to its content – a focus squarely upon political news rather than firearm topics - rather than its overall design oriented towards handgun enthusiasts only.

It later merged with Colt Firearms Company to form Colt Defense Corporation Firstprintedin 1906: The first issue of Action News was published by Hearst Publications Incorporated In 1912: founded its own printing plant called "The Journal Printing Company" which produced its ownissues until 1954 when it merged with Humble Press In 1914: formed its own marketing arm called "Action News Marketing Service" which produced advertisingand public relations materials for both guns and ammunition In 1916: purchased additional presses at New York City's Herald Tribune building known as "The National Armory Press" whichproduced issues until 1954 when it merged with Humble Press

The first permanent European American settlement in what is now Arkansas happened during 1821 when James White and his party arrived from Illinois Territory. In 1824, white men, including James Akins and George Bird Griggs, founded the town of Arkadelphia on land that they had purchased from Chief Tishomingo. Arkadelphia grew quickly due to its proximity to Indian territory as well as its natural resources such as timber and water coalitions were developed around it. In 1830,Arkadelphia became known as Little Rock after Major General John Pope's Headquarters moved there from Fort Smith. In 1836, Little Rock became part of Confederate States of America following their victory over President Andrew Johnson in two revolts at Fort Sumter. As part of Reconstruction effort by Ulysses S Grant following reconstruction legislation passed by Congress under President Abraham Lincoln, African Americans were re-enfranchised in Arkansas under new " voting rights ordinances ". This led to increased black migration to Little Rock and other cities throughout the state during this time period for job opportunities and education opportunities unavailable to them in their rural surroundings
Little Rock, Arkansas was founded in 1871 as a town in the Arkansas Territory. It became an incorporated city in 1907. The city limits were increased to encompass all of Johnson County in 1912 and all of Pulaski County in 1916. The population of Little Rock was estimated at 100,000 by 1930. In 1951, it became the capital of Arkansas.
