Jonesboro is a small town in Woodruff County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,838 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–West Memphis, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department (JVFD) was organized on July 6, 1885 by J.F. "Pete" Stratton and assigned to Station 3 on Main Street in downtown Jonesboro. The first fire that JJVD responded to was an accident at the Brush Company mill on Depot Street which left one man dead and four injuries including a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage.JVFD responded to six fires over its first year of existence; two were accidental and four were caused by arson or other criminal activity. In 1886, JJVD became part of the larger Greenwood VolunteerFire Department which had been organized just two months earlier in response to the 1885 fire in Greenwood Village, Arkansas. By 1890, Greenwood FD had become affiliated with both the Jackson County Volunteer Fire Department (JCVD) and the Arkansas National Guard (ANG). In 1896, Greenwood FD changed its name to Jonesboro FD when it merged with North Little Rock FD from south side of US Highway 40 east of where it now stands into what is now known as Parkview Road West Apartments #4B-6A located just off Interstate 65 Exit 123A near milepost 9½ after merging with New Hope FD around milepost 10 following a merger between SouthLittle Rock FD (now part of West Monroe Parish), Centralia FD (a coal mine village located about northeast ofArkansas City), Bellefontaine Valley PD (Bellefontaine Township), Allendale PD(Allendale Hillsborough) and White Sands NMPD Headquarters from north side Railroad tracks west of present day I-65 exit 123B onto what is now known as US Highway 63/I-240 about southeast ofJonesboro since then becoming Parkview Rd W Apts., Incorporated within North Little Rock city limits effective November 15th 1959

In recent years, though, some developers have revived hopes for revitalization with plans for mixed-use development along mainstreet corridors; this has caused mixed reactions from residents who see it as another step down from traditional downtown areas that are already struggling economically ().
