"Billy" Withers in 1892 and operated until it closed its doors in 1959. At its peak, the plant manufactured over a million rounds of ammunition per day. In 1909, Armour-Plymouth Ammunition & Chemical Corporation was formed out of merger between two predecessor companies – Armour-Plymouth Ammunition Factory and Armour-Alloy Works Incorporated – both located in Bridgeport, Connecticut (the original company had been founded in 1876 under the name National Arsenal Factory). This company continued production at Armoury through World War I before moving its operations to Williston, North Dakota during World War II; however, all production stopped following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 which led to America’s entry into World War II.
