Jacksonville, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 7,836 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The name "Jacksonville" comes from English General James Jackson and his army's march through the area on their way to victory against Native Americans in 1812. The first post office in Jacksonville was established in 1872, and it remained in operation until 1907. The town site was surveyed by Wm. P. Beaumont and named for him on November 5, 1873; he had been nominated as commissioner of Indian Affairs by President Ulysses S. Grant during the latter's administration. In 1895 the town site was annexed by Pulaski County; however, because Jacksonport (later known as Jacksonville) lay within Union County it continued to be listed as a part of that county until 1904 when Union became a part of Arkansas proper. JACKSONPORT – A small community located adjacent to the City limits of Jacksonville between Enterprise Boulevard and US- Route 66 west of downtown has seen growth over time with current development dating back to about 1954 or 1955 when two sisters opened up what would become known as "The Sisterhood Shop." From there they started selling items like clothing and cosmetics from their home which soon grew into an extensive chain with locations throughout Northwest Arkansas and some adjoining states before finally expanding into Missouri in 1978 after becoming one of several successful businesses owned by their sister company - Lululemon Athletica Incorporated

Jacksonville is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 17,727 at the 2010 census. Jacksonville is the county seat of Pulaski County. It was founded in 1875 as an agricultural town and grew to be one of the largest cities in Arkansas by the early 21st century. Jacksonville is located on the eastern border of Pulaski County and on the western edge of Little Rock. The first settlers in Jacksonville were citizens of Des Moines, Iowa who arrived here in 1875. They were led by attorney Simeon Weisman and his brother-in-law Jacob Wetterling, Jr., who had come from Minneapolis, Minnesota two years earlier to start a new life in what they called "the most Promising Territory on Earth." The townsite that now represents Jacksonville was chosen because it had a deep well for water supply and good land for farming because it had been part of several Indian Wars fought between Choctaw and Creek nations over previous centuries. In addition, many nearby towns declared themselves independent from Des Moines because they wanted more autonomy when it came to local matters such as fire engines or health clinics than did their counterparts back home. When Des Moines refused to recognize Jacksonville's independence, Mayor John Goudreau offered his city's services to his counterpart from Cedar Rapids; however, this offer too was refused upon learning that Goudreau also served as judge for Polk County (now Ark.) At first glance this seems like an inexplicable decision – after all, if both cities could provide these same services then why couldn't Des Moines do so too? Eventually it became clear that there wasn't enough money available to hire another judge so Goudreau agreed to serve out his full term with no pay until he could be replaced by someone who would have jurisdiction over both cities proper. This event marked an important moment not just for Jacksonville but also for Arkansas as a whole whereupon Jacksonvilles independence was legally recognized by other municipalities across the state
The area now known as Jacksonville was first settled by the Creek Indians in the late 18th century. The area became a part of Arkansas when that state was created in 1907. The city of Jacksonville was founded in 1914, and it continued to grow until the early 21st century. In 2001, Jacksonville became the county seat of Pulaski County.
