The Jacksonville, Arkansas gun safe company was founded in 1906 by two brothers, W.K. and H.L. Butler. The first gun safes were made of wood and leather and cost $10 each. In 1916, the company became known as the Butler Safe Company and producedsafes with metal frames and doors for a higher price but they still sold for around $50 each at the time. In 1933, the company merged with A&P Safes & Storage to become the A&P-Butler Gun Safe Co., Incorporated assets continuing production of high-quality safes until 1968 when it closed its doors permanently due to economic conditions in Arkansas. Jacksonville, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 24,965 at the 2010 census. Jacksonville was founded on September 12, 1871 by James A. Fenton and named for General John C. Breckinridge of the Union army who had helped drive the Confederate forces from Arkansas during the American Civil War. The city's first mayor was J.D. Searcy and it incorporated as a town on November 3, 1912. It became a city on December 14 of that year and is named after Jacksonville Beach in Florida which had been its original location before moving to Pulaski County in 1907 and then to Jacksonville Landing in 1916. The economy of Jacksonville has traditionally been based upon agriculture with some small-scale manufacturing also taking place although this has dwindled over time due to competition from more developed cities such as Little Rock and Arkadelphia. However, recent years have seen an increase in business activities including hotel development and professional services such as law enforcement and insurance companies which have led to rapid expansion of the downtown area since 2007 which now includes over 100 shops and restaurants along with several high-end properties including DeltaPlex Arena (an indoor basketball arena) which opened in 2009 and is home to both the Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team and the Jacksonville Sharks ice hockey team (now part of the NHL). In addition to this there are several smaller parks located throughout downtown where people can enjoy easy access to nature or relax indoors while watching games or reading books all without having to leave their living space Jacksonville is also known for its annual Music Festival which begins on Saturday June 17th each year featuring local & international artists performing at various venues throughout downtown until late evening culminating with a fireworks show over Jacksonville Bay just prior to sunset
Jacobsons were first brought to Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1871. The early settlers of Jacksonville were the Jacobs brothers, who immigrated from Germany. They built a cabin on what is now State Highway 82 and named it Jacob's Landing. The Jacobson family would live here until 1915 when they moved to Jacksboro. In 1915, the family name was changed to Jacobs and their land was sold to the state government. The state purchased it for $1,000 and turned it into a park which is still in use today.
