By 1907, every business had been required by law to install lights inside and outside their doors at all times! By 1920, optical products had become an important aspect of life in Hot Springs. A new shopping district called "The Plaza" wasdeveloped nearby on State Street between Jefferson Boulevard and Main Street; it featured high-end retail stores such as Macy's Department Store and Sears Roebuck & Co., along with opticians, druggists, jewelers and hair salons. Many services that were formerly provided only by mail or telephone now became available through Optical Asstivities Incorporated (OAI), which became one of the leading Optical Merchants in America!

This led to a rapid growth for the community as people moved into the area to exploit this new resource. By 1970, more than half of all jobs were related to oil production in Hot Springs. Today, energy production continues to be a major contributor to local economy with more than 20 percent of total job income coming from this sector. Many businesses are based around oil production including refineries and pipelines that serve various markets across America. Additionally, tourism has become an important component of the local economy with many visitors choosing to stay here while visiting other parts of Arkansas or neighbouring states such as Missouri and Oklahoma

He also notes how much work went into making sure that everything about Hot Springs was perfect - from its location to its products such as water fountains and baths. In 1923, Ethel Mertz opened her own restaurant at what is now known as Park Place which became one of the most popular tourist destinations in town. After World War II began and Arkansas lost some of its industries due to shrinking resources, tourism became an important part of Arkansas economy. Today,Hot Springs remains an important tourist destination with many activities available including swimming (which can be done either inside or outside), hiking/biking trails, shopping at local businesses along Main Street (home to many souvenir stores), enjoying dinner reservations at local restaurants or staying overnight at various motel options nearby
