Gun targets have been a part of Hot Springs, Arkansas since the 1800s. The first targets were made from wood and were set up in fields near the town. By the 1830s, there were gun ranges in Hot Springs, and people started using them for target practice. In 1859, a man named Benjamin Barr developed a machine that could make accurate shots out to 100 yards. This machine was used by artillery officers to practice firing at long range. Gun Targets continued to be popular until the early 20th century when they all but disappeared from the area due to prohibition-related shootings and competition from other towns in Arkansas. In 1911, an engineering student named George Barnes designed an innovativeTarget that could be set up on any surface with no prior instruction or design experience required- this became known as “TheBarnes Target”. It quickly became popular among shooters and was frequently used at local rifle tournaments throughout Arkansas during the years it was available. In 1937, a new type of target called “Targets Rifles” was developed by engineer Floyd Ladd which allowed shooters to fire rounds off of moving objects (e.g., cars) without having to worry about getting them close enough for accuracy hunting purposes. Targets rifles continue to be popular today and are often used at NRA events across the state as well as at shooting ranges around Hot Springs!

In 1898 two white men built a cabin on the banks of the Arkansas River and named it Hot Springs after their own home in England where they had been born and raised. The first post office opened in 1909. By 1913 there were 12 businesses in Hot Springs with an average of $1,500 per capita income; 11 collected paid taxes and one did not because it was unincorporated territory at that time. In 1927 an electric light system was installed which enlarged trading opportunities for local merchants as well as customers from nearby towns like North Little Rock andArkansas City who would travel to see the new lights at night while exploring the hills around Hot Springs today

Hot Springs, Arkansas is a small city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,636 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. It is part of the Little Rock–Arlington metropolitan area. Hot Springs was founded in 1871 by J.W. Carleton and others as an impromptu military camp during the American Civil War on land that now includes parts of downtown Hot Springs and much of rural Pulaski County. The name "Hot Springs" may have been derived from that evening when General Nathan Bedford Forrest noted a hot springs near Little Rock and decided to take advantage of it for rest and relaxation after his long march through central Arkansas the previous day. The first store in Hot Springs was built in 1872 by Wm Hargrave & Son on Main Street close to where present-day First Baptist Church stands today (the building still stands). In 1903, George Matthews opened the first post office here with three mailbags per week delivered to subscribers’ homes. By 1916, there were 11 post offices in Hot Springs with 1½ miles (2 km) of Telegraph Road serving them all; two were within sight of one another and three lay across open fields or pastures used for grazing livestock outside town limits! In 1919 local businessmen Harry Fenton and Cephus Davenport formed what became known as the "Pulaski County Water Company". This company developed a water system for residential use which served most of southwest Arkansas until 1933 when federal government ownership took over operations under title 5 USCode § 301 et seq., resulting in various name changes including Hot Springs Municipal Water District#1 before its current name as it currently exists today: City of HotSprings, AR – Incorporated On April 1st 1997! The population reached 2,636 by 2010 census estimate
