In the early 1800s, Hot Springs was a small frontier town located in central Arkansas. The town was founded by white settlers in 1820 and quickly became a center of activity for the local militia and rifle club. By 1834, Hot Springs had attained its current size and population. The earliest firearms that were used in Hot Springs were rifles and pistols made by fur traders and soldiers stationed in the area during the Indian Wars. By 1835, however, guns started to be manufactured locally. The first gunsight production began around this time with a rudimentary design that utilized a crude lens combined with an iron sighting frame. One of the most important milestones for gun sights production took place in 1861 when Colonel John Maynard built his own rifle sight factory in Hot Springs using original designs from Colonel John Dickson of Nashville, Tennessee. This factory produced some of the most advanced Gun Sights ever created at that time includingMaynard's Mayfair Rifle Sight which revolutionized gun sights design. During World War I, American arms manufacturers turned their attention to supplying munitions to Europe while European armaments manufacturers turned their focus towards supplying America with military equipment. As a result, many obsolete firearms were surrendered or destroyed as part of enemy surrender negotiations or as part of efforts to get rid of German weapons caches throughout Arkansas before they could be used against Allied troops on strategic battlefields such as Inchon and Normandy during World War II. Consequently, many historic firearm relics are now held within various archives across the United States due to their importance associated with both World War I and World War II alone

Hot Springs is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 947 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hot Springs–AR–Jefferson City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The springs were discovered in 1871 by J. R. Donelson and his brother-in-law, General George Armstrong Custer, as they explored what would become Pulaski County. In 1872, the Donelson brothers built the first hotel in Hot Springs and named it the "Arkansas House". In 1873, Governor John Slaton proclaimed Hot Springs an official county seat and renamed it "Pulaski". The first post office opened in 1874 with Wm Fenton as mail carrier. In 1907, a dam was constructed to provide water for irrigation purposes near present-day Carbondale. That same year, the Arkansas Legislature designated Hot Springs as a national city under Act No. 5 of that year; however, no action was taken on this designation until 1933 when Pulaski became an independent city under Act No. 331 of 1933 (renamed "Pulaski County" effective July 1st). On December 12th 1934 Mayor Averill Dickson founded the American Legion Post #1 at present day Parkdale Cemetery which continues to be active today with over 2200 members

The first people to live in Hot Springs were white settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee who arrived in 1847. They built log cabins on the bluff overlooking the hot springs that are still standing today. By 1860 there were over 100 white residents living in Hot Springs. In 1881, the United States Post Office was established at Hot Springs. It served as the eastern terminus for mail deliveries between Little Rock and other parts of Arkansas until it closed its doors in 1907. In 1912, the state legislature designated Hot Springs as a capital of Pulaski County. At this time it also became one of two counties (the other being Jefferson County) within Pulaski County which would be represented by a county seat (the other being Jonesboro). In 1928, construction began on what would become known as downtown Hot Springs with the original buildings consisting of three blocks connected by streets that still exist today. The city was incorporated on December 15, 1929. In 1935, during World War II, Japanese Americans were interned at nearby Fort Sumter and many people including some of the original white settlers decided to move to Hot Springs so they could avoid military service or send their children into combat zones unknown to them. As a result of this decision many homes were destroyed or converted into barracks during World War II while others experienced modest improvements such as new roofs and sidewalks over existing mud floors due to government funding meant specifically for wartime housing projects across America . However despite these efforts little progress has been made towards repairing or restoring these homes since before World War II ended

In 1928, the Arkansas Valley Railroad reached Hot Springs and began serving as an important link between the eastern half of Arkansas and western Texas. This connection helped make Hot Springs one of the most important cities in the Arkansas Valley region.
