In 1945, Alonzo Crouch leased the business from Mr. Hodge and continued to operate it until 1952 when it became a part of the Little Rock Arsenal Corporation under the ownership of Pappy Harriman Jr..

Hot Springs, Arkansas is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Hot Springs comes from the springs that are located in the community. The springs were first mentioned in 1796 by Major General James Wilkinson and Colonel John Chilton during their expedition to survey this area for a post on the Arkansas River. In 1814, Major General Andrew Jackson ordered Majors Moultrie and Clarke to explore this area and find suitable sites for military posts along the Arkansas River. They found two large springs near where Hot Springs now stands and named them Cold Spring and Mineral Spring because they were sources of cold water. In 1818, Colonel George Hales donated land to build a prison in Hot Springs which was known as the "Hales Prison". The jail was built on what is now First Street between North Main Street and South Broadway. It served as a prison until 1835 when it became known as Central Jail. In 1861, Confederate soldiers burned down the old jail which resulted in its reopening as an impromptu hospital called Hospital Hill Hospital with three wards- A ward for patients who were injured or illness; A ward for female patients who needed childbirth; And A ward for Confederate officers who had been captured or wounded while fighting against Union forces west of Memphis, Tennessee. In 1865, after Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, General Philip Sheridan set up his headquarters at Hotel Missouri inside Central Jail until he moved into Fort Sumter on April 12th following orders given by Ulysses S Grant about how Sheridan should be treated since he was commander of all Union forces within three states including Arkansas Territory (the state of Arkansas). On October 15th 1865 General Sheridan ordered all prisoners being held at Central Jail/Hotel Missouri released without trial due to lack of evidence linking them to Lincoln’s assassination plot or any other wrongdoing so they could return home to their families and communities throughout central Illinois etc etc etc... effectively freeing most if not all* Confederate soldiers held at Central Jail/Hotel Missouri including many high ranking generals such as Stonewall Jackson *Note: Some men held at Central Jail/Hotel Missouri such as Nathan Bedford Forrest continue to be incarcerated today with no charges filed against them
Hot Springs was founded in 1875 by the brothers James and John Wesley. It became a popular tourist destination due to its mineral hot springs, including the Arkansas River's celebrated White Sulphur Springs. The springs were used as a military hospital during World War I, and later became an area for leisure activities such as swimming and birding. In the 1930s, Hot Springs began to become known as a center for African American people because of its proximity to Greenwood Cemetery.
