River wood was usually used for target rifle barrels because it was strong enough to handle repeated shots without breaking down. Hardwood was more common for sporting rifles because it wasn’t as durable but could handle more rounds per shot than river wood. Rifle barrel manufacturing continued throughout the 19th century until around 1915 when it transitioned into automatic weapons manufacture. Automatic weapons are firearms that shoot rounds continuously instead of firing one shot at a time like revolvers do today. This change led to increased production costs which would then be passed onto consumers who paid higher prices for these products due to this increase in production cost alone! As automatic weapons became more popular over time they required longer lengths of barrel too which would then affect gun barrel prices as well! With all these factors working against them, handgun barrel production quickly resumed after 1915 before slowly dying back again throughout the remainder of the 20th century!

The plant closed in 1949 but remained an important landmark until it burned down in 2002.
