Helena West Helena (born December 25, 1951) is an American politician who has been a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives since 2003. She is a Republican. West Helena was born in 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas to John and Gladys West Helena. After graduating from high school in 1972, she attended the University of Central Arkansas and earned a degree in business administration. In 1978, she married her husband, Frank West Helena; they have two children. After earning her degree from Central Arkansas University, West Helena worked as an executive consultant for several companies before starting her own business in 1991. From 1992 to 2003, she served as the mayor of Little Rock's City Councilmember position before being elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives where she currently serves.

The first settler in what would become Helena West Helena was Hiram Chamberlain in 1881. He built a log cabin on the current site of the old high school. However, this cabin did not stand for long as it was destroyed by a fire in 1882. In 1883, Jens Christensen arrived from Denmark with his family and started up a farm north of present day High Bridge Road. His farmstead would later become known as Christensen's Ferry Farm and still stands today across from East Central Middle School on Hwy 12 south of town proper
