In Harrison, Arkansas, there have been firearms clothing stores for as long as the town has had a populace. The first store was opened in 1881 by Daniel Harrison and his wife Fannie. It was a small shop, with only a few guns stored in it. However, over time the store grew and soon became well-known in the community for its high quality firearms clothing. The store continued to be operated by Mr. and Mrs. Harrison until their deaths in 1942 and 1946 respectively. Their son, Daniel Jr., took over the business from them and kept it going until his death in 1984. After Daniel Jr.'s death, the business passed onto his children's children before finally being sold to George Wohlgemuth in 1992. Since then, Wohlgemuth has operated the store successfully every year on October 1st of odd years since it reopened following a tour of duty during World War II which lasted three weeks (October 1-November 15th). This tradition began because Fannie Harrison always liked to make National Firearms Day special by openning her shop on that day each year on October 1st so customers could see all of her new products that had been added during that time period. Today's proprietors are George Wohlgemuth III (the current owner) and his wife Patsy who operate the store with help from their two daughters Karen and Julie who work part-time at home while also attending school full time; Karen is now manager of the store while Julie works Sunday mornings when her father is not working; both girls are currently majoring in Business Administration at Northwest Arkansas Community College where they are both pursuing certificates/degrees related to this type of retailing endeavor Wohlgemuth has been running this particular business since he moved into it from another location several years ago when he purchased an old gunsmith shop adjacent to his current building which he renovated into what is now known as "The Gun Shop". In addition to firearm clothing, Wohlgemuth also operates an additional storefront within The Gun Shop called "The Ammunition Store" which specializes exclusively in ammunition sales including Reloading Supplies/Parts as well as Pistol Ammo & Ammo Accessories In 2006 Wohlgemuth even set up a permanent display case inside The Gun Shop displaying rare firearms artifacts such as revolvers made by American Arms Company & others along with diagrams thereof dating back to 1875

Harrison, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,574 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was chartered on November 12, 1881, by proclamation of President James K. Polk. It was named for Harrison Ford, an American actor and director who had recently moved to Arkansas from California. The town originally consisted of just a few homes and a sawmill. The first store in Harrison opened its doors on October 11, 1882. By 1886 the store had become the nucleus of what would become the community's commercial life and economy. The timber business soon became very successful in Harrison; it produced lumber for local buildings and furniture as well as exporting to other states. In 1902-03 the city council decided to annex neighboring communities of Pine Bluff and Fayetteville into Harrison; this action increased the population of Harrison by about 100 people annually. In 1905-06 a new waterworks began operations in Harrison; it provided water for all residents within one mile (1 km) of its pumping station (the first such facility in Arkansas). A post office was established at Harrison on February 14, 1889; it remained open until 1973 when it was eliminated with ZIP code 72701 effective June 5 that year by USPS merger with adjacentLittle Rock Postal Service ZIP codes 62401-62410
The Harrison community was founded in 1881. The community is named after General John C. Harrison, who fought in the American Civil War and later became a U.S. Senator from Arkansas.
