Forrest City, Arkansas is a small town located in the western part of Little Rock County, Arkansas. The population was 6,470 at the 2010 census. Forrest City was founded in 1907 by John M. Forrest and his family. Forrest City is home to one of the largest optical stores in the world, The Forrest Camera & Video Store. Forrest Camera & Video Store was opened in 1907 by John M. Forrest and his family as The Forest Camera Company. It became known for its comprehensive line of photographic equipment and accessories including motion picture cameras, film reversal machines, focusers, tripods and other tools used by professional photographers around the world. In 1984-1985, The Forest Camera Company suffered a serious fire that destroyed many of its inventory items and records; however, employees were able to recover most of the material before it could be lost again. In 2006-2007, The Forest Camera Company reopened with new ownership under the name The Forrest Camera Store Inc., which continues to carry out its mission as an industry leader in photography supplies and services for both amateur and professional shooters alike!

Forrest City is an unincorporated community in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,381 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Azle metropolitan area. The community was named for General Forrest and his family who resided there from 1881 to 1886. General Forrest had a ranch near by and donated land for the town site in 1892. Forrest City became a small agricultural village with a post office, general store, and one hotel until it streamline development after World War II when large manufacturing plants arrived in the area. In 1973 the Arkansas State Legislature passed Act 205 which created Forrest City Township which included all of present-day Pulaski County as well as parts of neighboring Benton County. The name change was based on objections from some residents that they were not consulted before the decision was made to make their township an unincorporated community rather than an incorporated municipality like their nearby counterparts Groveland (now Pella) and Arkadelphia (now Fort Smith). In 1972 Forrest City received its own water system which permitted it to become urbanized with much more commerce than rural villages such as those located around them at that time. A shopping center opened in 1984 followed by another in 1992 when Interstate 30 crossed through the community making it easier for businesses to reach both Little Rock and North Little Rock airports directly. A major fire destroyed most of downtown business in 2008 but caused little damage other than extensive loss of life resulting from intense smoke inhalation among workers inside some brick buildings adjacent to I-30 just south of town limits.
