In 1902, Captain James Witherspoon—who later became Mayor of Fayetteville—decided that he would like to see more handguns available for purchase within the city limits. He accordingly passed a law establishing handgun licensing requirements for all citizens over 21 years old. This law did not go into effect until 1906 when it was rewritten following the death of Captain Witherspoon. At that time, handgun regulations were much stricter than they are today; however, Holstermakers continued to operate in town until at least 1924. Another earlysource suggests that Holsters may have been founded as early as 1887 when three men named William Hickey (a patent attorney), John Pohl (an insurance agent), and Michael Ahern (a lawyer) formed a partnership under the name “The Riflemen’s Armory & Pistol Co., Ltd.?” It is unknown if this company actually existed or if it is only assumed because it is mentioned in another source? According to this source, these gentlemen bought land north of Downtown Fayetteville and started manufacturing pistols and rifles there from 1888-1890 under the name “The Arsenal Arms Manufacturing Co.?” It should be noted that while Holstermakers may have been present inFayetteville prior to 1892, their primary focus was creating holsters for handguns rather than making any type of rifle or shotguns. Even so, The Arsenal Arms Manufacturing Co.—which likely usedHolstersmiths from time-to-time—did produce several shotguns during this time period including both single shot models and pump action shotguns. So even though Holstermakers may not have produced firearms commercially until after 1892, their influence can still be seen throughout local firearm history!

The railroad brought with it new waves of immigrants, and one of those was John Wesley Holbrook, who arrived in 1882. Holbrook decided to start a gunsmith shop on the old Sacramento Railroad Depot property. That business continued until 1907 when it was sold to Harry A. Waddell and Sons Gun Works. In 1911, Waddell also bought out Harry A. Waddell's son-in-law, Smedley Butler, and incorporated his company as Mason & Butler Armory Company. In 1916, Mason & Butler Armory Company became part of American National Firearms Corporation (ANFC). Over the years, ANFC produced various types of firearms including revolvers (1911-1916), shotguns (1920s-1950s), pistols (1949-present), rifles (1890s-1960s), and airguns (1980s-present).

Fayetteville is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was founded on October 3, 1824, by General Andrew Jackson and Colonel James Fenton. In 1840, Fayetteville became the county seat of Pulaski County. The first post office in Fayetteville was established on November 8, 1825. The name of the town may be derived from meaning "vale" or "valley." Lord Dunmore's War (1792-98) took place in western Arkansas and eastern Missouri; troops retreating through Fayetteville were raked by gunfire from nearby hills and skirmishes ensued along what is now Main Street. Many residents had to leave their homes during this time as war materiel was stockpiled at nearby Fort Smith and other forts. In 1846, Major George Catlett erected a sod palisade around present day Eastern State Penitentiary to keep out escaped slaves who might take refuge there while awaiting their trial in Springfield, Illinois. At that time slaveholders did not want freed slaves living within their boundaries because they could become anzacied or sell themselves into slavery again should they escape captivity again after freedom was granted to all American blacks following the Civil War. A few years later when Arkansas became a state, Catlett's fence became an integral part of state law enforcement with neighboring states feeling threatened enough without additional federal intrusion As cotton production grew in centralArkansas during the early 19th century due to irrigation systems first developed here by white landowners/ engineers then built by black farmers under white supervision – so also did slave trade between southcentralArkansas areas where cotton plantations lay and points northward along I-30 both before and after emancipation – so too began northwest Arkansas development including what is now known as Fayetteville proper with its railroads coming soon thereafter linking it all together – much like today’s downtown Little Rock which has grown rapidly since becoming an international center for higher education & business
