El Dorado, Arkansas is a small town in Baxter County located in the eastern Panhandle of Arkansas. The population was 931 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock-based city of Little Rock. The first European to visit El Dorado was José de Armas, who sighted it from his boat on July 14, 1745 while exploring the Arkansas River. He named it after the Spanish word "Dorado" meaning "gold." The first white men to explore and map what would become El Dorado County were Colonel John Ennis and Captain James Kapp in 1819. They charted a route that connected Fort Smith with Pueblo de Santa Clara on the Colorado River. However, they never reached El Doradofoundation because ofa natural obstacle: The mountain known as Cedar Mountain blocked their way. In 1827, prospector General James Waddell discovered gold near present day Arkadelphia when he found artifacts dating back to 300 BC while working for Spain in Nacoosa County. This led to Waddell's claim to be America's first gold miner and thus began America's mining frontier which continues today through central Arkansas. Although little else is known about early settlers or events in this area, one theory suggests that some Native Americans may have assisted early European explorers by supplying them with food and shelter during their travels through Central America; however no evidence exists to support this theory beyond circumstantial evidence alone. Another theory suggests that since there are few physical remnants from these ancient cultures remaining in central Arkansas today (due both to development over time and looting by looters), any information concerning them must come from historical accounts written by later generations who experienced those cultures firsthand rather than relying solely upon historical records compiled by later historians who only knew about them indirectly. Regardless of which theory is true, what we do know indicates that early settlement here was significant – not just because pioneers brought new technology but also because they left behind lasting footprints which can still be seen today around El Dorado Lake thanks largely to military operations conducted here between 1942-1945 during World War II which destroyed much of rural easternArkansas infrastructure including schools, churches, hospitals and other important infrastructure necessary for agriculture but not so necessary for manufacturing or everyday life such as roads and bridges which helped keep people living within walking distance of their homes instead of long distances away like many rural areas today
