El Dorado is an unincorporated community in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The post office at the junction of U.S. Route 66 and Arkansas Highway 11 was established in 1907, and remains in operation. By 1886, Hinton had purchased all the surrounding acreage, making him the first white man to own all of what is now Pulaski County. He also built one of the first homes in Bentonville. In 1903, he sold his holdings to John Wimsatt and others who founded the City of Bentonville; since then, El Dorado has been its primary town center. In 1923, El Dorado became a county seat when Pulaski County was formed from parts of Garland and Bradley counties; it remained an unincorporated community until 1970. As with most rural areas during that time, few people lived there beyond farmers and their families; however, over time some businesses developed around mills situated near Highway 11 which processed agricultural products such as cotton and flour for local markets outside Bentonville. Most recently (since 2009), development has focused on retail enterprises including a Walmart Supercenter complex adjacent to Interstate 40 Exit 269A just east of town limits; this has led to increased traffic congestion on US 66 leading into town during peak hours (particularly during school terms). Nevertheless, residents continue to live close by while enjoying access to major metropolitan activities within easy reach despite some limited amenities (e.g., no hospitals or professional sports teams).

In addition, growing technology has made production lines less necessary so businesses can be organized into teams which allow for greater flexibility and efficiency. In recent years there have been several attempts by developers to revive downtown El Dorado as an entertainment district with mixed success - yet overall downtown areas remain vibrant and active despite some setbacks like a decline in real estate prices recently attributed to global recession conditions rather than any local demand for activity or investment (see also: Downtown Corinth).
