El Dorado is a city in Baxter County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Central Arkansas metropolitan area. It is the county seat of Baxter County. The first European to sight what would later be called El Dorado was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo on November 14, 1541 while exploring San Miguel de Allende Province in southern Mexico. He named what he saw "Los Pinos" (the Peaks) after his sponsor's Peak Ranch near present-day Waco, Texas. In 1821 John Cranch discovered and claimed land along the Republican River for Texas; however, no permanent settlement developed until 1829 when James Fenton erected a log cabin on the site that became El Dorado City and laid out streets and blocks on July 4th of that year which are still in use today as part of downtown El Dorado. At this time it was one of two combined Mexican territorial governments east of the Rio Grande having jurisdiction over all or most of eastern Arkansas including Baxter County including parts now within Little Rock and North Little Rock Counties... A post office called Ector had been established by mail order from Santa Fe Springs but closed its doors October 11, 1865 due to lack of customers despite being open every day except Sundays... The first school opened in town on September 6th 1827 under Rev Mgr Huggins with five students... By 1840 there were eighty residents living in town with thirty-six businesses conducted by citizens or their families... In 1842 Mormon pioneers led by Brigham Young moved from Nauvoo into western Arkansas and established Salt Lake City here; so much for plans to link up easternArkansas with Utah via Salt Lake Valley through central Colorado resulting in creation of such an immense Mormon empire! However just prior to arrival at this new site Englishman Jno McDowell had discovered Gold reefers about southeast corner Of Main Street & Indian Trail also now known as Progress Avenue where prospectors began digging earnestly beginning February 1861 soon followed by 360 men(including women) employed upon exploration lasting six weeks during which $6000 was recovered ($ today value) various items such as spoons, bells etc were found some bearing original provenance including an inscription “Presented By Josiah Willard To His Excellency Don Carlos Alvarez March 9th 1795” latterly housed at Montrose MuseumHP

El Dorado, Arkansas is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Springdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit El Dorado were French traders and missionaries in 1823. In 1836, Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna discovered and named what became known as El Dorado after his army's exploration of the area in 1818-19. The gold that was discovered there began to be circulated throughout the Western world and attracted speculators and entrepreneurs from all over the continent. By 1870, however, only a few hundred people lived in El Dorado proper while many others lived on nearby farms or ranchos. In 1898, an American company led by Cecil Boddy bought most of the land around El Dorado for $10 million dollars and began construction on what would become Oklahoma City. However, because silver had not yet been found there (and it was thought that gold might), development never proceeded beyond a few scattered businesses and homes. By 1907, only five people remained living in El Doradoro--five Anglo Americans who ran a store and two Mexicans who worked on their farmlands; all other residents had left for better prospects back east or Mexico City where silver mining continued vigorously under new ownership until it ended about 1950s when production collapsed due to technological advancements In 1954, when statehood was granted to Arkansas by Congress as part of the United States Constitution Amendments of 1956 which also gainedArkansas its own government within the United States Department of State El Dorado reverted back to being a small community with no school open during morning hours due to lack of funds until 1978 when First Baptist Church opened its doors as "The School at Elmwood" serving grades K-12 In recent years there has been some effort made by both local citizens and local politicians to resurrect interest in this once struggling community but progress has been slow due largely to lack of money which has recently become more difficult given tight budgets across all levels including education . There are plans underway by some private individuals have revived aspects such as artichoke farming tours for guests which may bring some much needed revenue into town
El Dorado, Arkansas was founded in 1836 by the Mormon pioneers. It became a state in 1907. The city of El Dorado is the capital of Arkansas.
