In 1923, a company called the Armoury was founded in Conway to produce ammunition for pistols and rifles. The Armoury continued to produce ammunition until 1978. In that year, the United States Military turned over all its weapons production to Smith & Wesson Corporation. From 1978 through 2004, Smith & Wesson produced 100% handgun ammunition in Conway. In 2003, Smith & Wesson announced it would be discontinuing handgun ammo production in Conway due to declining demand from consumers. However, the company kept production of full-metal jacket rounds for training purposes until 2007.

In 2012-2013 Conway residents were targeted by protesters group ARKansas for not voting during the Presidential election when their governor (John Bel Edwards) wasn't up for re-election until after he had already been picked to run for re-election as Vice President on November 4th due to an "emergency" filling his seat which never happened; this led to some calls BS gang violence because many of these protesters are black or people of color living near white suburbs or rural areas that have large African American populations while most of Conway's residents are white

By 1945, the population had recovered to 15,000 residents. AfterWorld War II growth stalled as social changes occurred such as suburbanization and changing technology led to more joblessness in postwar Conway while wages remained low throughout most of Arkansas economy until the late 1990s when they began increasing slowly due to economic development outside of Arkadelphia The land that now makes up Conway was originally part of what is now eastern Arkansas; it lay between Little Rock on the north side and Fayetteville on the south side at a point where watercourses emptied into Natchez River which then emptied into Mississippi River system Conway’s location – just off Interstate 30 – made it an important stop for travelers going east or west across this area during its early years As time passed other settlements were developed around this spot including Rocks Ferry on New Madrid River which served as a transportation hub for goods moving from Little Rock all over Arkansas In 1870 J A Conway purchased 640 acres northwest of present day Arkadelphia from Edwin Dickson for $4 per acre This tract eventually included much of what is today eastern Arkansas including parts of Fort Smith County John A Conways descendants still live there today
