In 1832, a post office called Camden was established and remained in operation until 1907. In 1868, John Wesley Snider founded the First Baptist Church in Camden and it remains as one of the oldest churches in the area today. In 1870, he also built a school and church on what is now University Avenue; this building still stands today as part of the University of Arkansas campus. In 1902, James Hines organized a cotton gin and mill around what is now US 66/US 83 south of town. This became known as Hinesville because many members of his family had worked at this mill beginning before its construction began. By 1912, over 100 businesses were located within walking distance of downtown Camden proper and many more existed on either side of US 66/US 83 for miles around. During World War I (1915-1918), local production helped contribute to American war effort by supplying munitions factories throughout Arkansas; during World War II (1939-1945), postwar growth led to increased production at Hinesville's mills which resulted in layoffs for several thousand Arkansans employed there between 1945 and 1951; however these closures did not translate into negative publicity or political isolation for Camden - instead they helped develop an enterprising spirit among some Arkansans that persists to this day After years of decline following World War II, black cotton farming resumed completely in southern Pulaski County by 1960 due to market forces rather than government assistance or preference given to white farmers byArkansas governor Orval Faubus during the early 1960s as part of an anti-black campaign known as "Operation New Start". As new Afrocentric independent farmers developed large acreage outside urban areas during this time period we can see various changes taking place within race relations including increasing police presence along with other measures taken against "natives" such as education opportunities available through public agencies like Head Start programs while inner city residents experienced continuing segregation both racially and economically

Camden, Arkansas is a small town in Howard County, Arkansas. The population was 1,987 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1907 by John and Anna Cunningham. Camden is named after Camden Junction in England. The Cunningham's were the first to settle in what is now Camden. They started a grocery store there and also raised chickens and pigs. In 1912 they built a dam on the White River to provide water for their farm animals and also for local farmers. In 1930 they built a Methodist church, which still stands today. In 1942 the United States military invaded Arkansas to assist with World War II efforts; as part of this invasion, Camden became an airbase for fighter planes used in the war effort. The base also hosted training camps for American soldiers until 1946 when it closed down due to lack of use and financial problems. After World War II ended, many people left Camden for better opportunities elsewhere in America or Canada; however, some stayed behind and continued to operate the grocery store, church (still serving today), and other businesses until around 2000 when all but one business failed within six months of each other due to hard times caused by changes in technology and increased competition from larger stores downtown. In recent years Camden has seen population growth due to new development along its borders including nearby Arkadelphia which has seen significant redevelopment over the past decade or so that has made Camden more Amish-like than ever before with several small businesses opening up inside of just a few blocks of Main Street alone since 2007 or so!
Camden was founded in 1881 by John H. Lewis, a colonel in the Confederate army who had deserted and become a land speculator. The town became one of the most important cotton plantations in Arkansas. It grew rapidly due to its location on the Mississippi River, its fertile soil, and its access to shipping and transportation. In 1907, Camden became an incorporated city and it retains this status today.
