The second building served as the armory’s firing range and included a training ground for artillerymen. In 1829, Captain Hargrave sold his assets in Camden County to Colonel Loomis for $5,000. Colonel Loomis proceeded to build a larger armory on the same site that included four buildings measuring 100 feet by 50 feet each. The new armory became operational in 1830 and was used extensively during the Mexican-American War. In 1854, Colonel Loomis sold his assets in Camden County again and this time donations were made from various individuals throughout Arkansas to purchase an additional three Armory Buildings including two located at present day University Park Boulevard and Huntingdon Avenue in Camden City. These structures were completed in 1857 and1859 respectively; they were used primarily for storage purposes until they were replaced by two new buildings thatstand today at 501 EAST UNIVERSITY PARK BLVD., AND HUNTINGDON AVENUE IN CAMDEN CITY-. As Arsenal Ammunition grew rapidly within Arkansas it began exporting shells both domestically and abroad through its ships anchored at Fayetteville Harbor including gunships USS Constitution (1851) USS Perry (1856), USS Maine (1861) USS Wachusett (1863), USS Harrisburg (1865), USS Fremont (1867), HMS Victory (1870). Thisexport barrage increased when Confederate General Robert Ewell decided he would rather fight with Napoleonic France than fight against Southern states such as Texas annexationist Govt.- Genl Curtis Mifflin

Camden, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 12,482 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Camden is home to the Camden Volunteer Fire Department and the Camden Independent School District. The first settler in Camden was Dr. James Caldwell who arrived in 1847 from Tennessee. A new town site was surveyed and platted by John Fenton on May 10, 1852 as part of a land grant to Joshua Ladd from Theophilus Parsons. Ladd had been afactor in organizing Little Rock and serving as its first mayor. In 1861 when Arkansas became a Confederate state, Camden sided with the South and lost its status as an incorporated city until March 1865 when it re-established its municipal status as an unincorporated village under the name of "Camden". In 1907 it merged with neighboring Pine Bluff to form what is now known as Pine Bluff-Camden Township which continued to be unincorporated until 1960 when it became part of Pulaski County effective January 1, 1961. According to the 2010 US Census report, there were 12,482 people living in Camden located within 6 villages: Pine Bluff-Camden Township (Pine Bluff), Arkadelphia-Lenoir City (Arkadelphia), Clarksdale-Fayetteville (Clarksdale), Fayetteville West (Fayetteville), Hope (Hope), Jacksonville Landing-Birmingham (Jacksonville Landing)

Campbell who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as U.S. Senator from West Virginia. In 1907, General Campbell donated land to the town for its initial development and helped contribute significantly to its growth. In 1916, Camden became an incorporated municipality and quickly began to develop into one of the most thriving small towns in the region. The city's success story began with its founding as a commercial center with many businesses beginning operations during World War I. Afterthe war ended, Camden continued to grow and boast several major industry sectors including transportation manufacturing and textiles/fabrics manufacturing along with service companies such as hotel/motel/restaurant businesses and professional services firms like law offices and accounting firms. During this time period, Camden also enjoyed some impressive achievements including becoming home to both the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA) College Park campus (now known as Arkadyevich Moscow State University) and one of only two universities located within reach of downtown Camden on Interstate 20A (the other being UA’s main campus located just east of Interstate 20). Additionally, local government functions were centralized within Camden annually through elections held on October 5th during which all residents could vote on municipal issues such as spending plans for each year’s budget or changes made to zoning regulations affecting properties within their city limits
Camden was founded in 1911 by the Camden-based Arkansas Railroad Company as a transportation hub for the region. The company built a rail line from Camden to Little Rock and developed the town into a major cotton and agricultural center. The town's growth attracted many white settlers, who built homes and businesses in what is now the downtown area. In 1925, the Camden-Little Rock Railway was acquired by the Arkansas Railroad Company, which continued to operate it until 1971. In that year, Arkansas Railroad Company merged with Gulf & Western Railway to form Gulf & Western Expressway System. The railroad service ceased operations in 1971, leaving Camden without a station or trackage.
