Bryant is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 579 at the 2010 census. It is located on Arkansas Route 4, about southeast of Little Rock. Bryant was founded in 1881 by John Bryant and his wife, Lillie. The Byrants were farmers and had one boy, Johnnie, when they arrived in Bryant. In 1902, the Bryants built a log cabin on the east side of Route 4 and named it "The Cabin". They raised chickens and grew crops until 1925, when they lost their home to farming rotation problems. They continued to live there until 1940. In 1941-1942, the Byrants moved to an area northwest of their original cabin on Cole Road which became known as "The Village". There they began building what would become Bryant's main businesses: a grocery store (1941), a post office (1942), and a fire hall (1945). The fire hall became the first building in town that functioned as both a schoolhouse and community center; it still functions as such today. In 1957-1963, Bryant's only doctor lived here; he was Dr. Harry Hargrave from Little Rock. In 1963-1965Dr., George Witherspoon replaced Hargrave as doctor in town; he also served as town clerk from 1965 to 1975 In 1978-1981 Dr., James Coyle officiated at weddings held at The Cabin while Dr., Donnie Weems officiated at baptisms conducted at other facilities in town during this time frame On September 25th 1985 Mr./ Mrs.. Dillard purchased 6 acres north of downtown for $1 cash with intentions of developing it into an urban park/community center . After many years of Planning & Design work by various City Officials including Councilmember Tom Bunch who represented District 3b which includes much of downtown Bryant along with parts of neighboring townships , funding finally came through & construction finally began on what would be called "The Park" & now constitutes one half Of Downtown #Bryant

Bryant, Arkansas is a small town located in the Ozarks Mountains of southwest Arkansas. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Bryant is one of nine towns in Pulaski County and is part of the Jonesboro–Fayetteville–Springdale, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to live in what is now Bryant were two brothers, James and John Bryant, who came from Kentucky in 1814. They began farming and trading with settlers along the Arkansas River valley. In 1825, James Bryant married Sarah Storer and they founded a small community called White Clay on the east side of the river. They had four children: James (1826-1901), Sarah (1828-1892), infant daughter Laura (baptized October 12, 1830), and son John Payson (1830-1911). In 1829, James Bryant purchased 640 acres west of town from Arent Van Buren for $1esteader's fee plus 10 percent interest every year until he sold it to his son John Payson for $5 per acre ($40 total). The land became known as "Pulaski Township". John Payson died young in 1861 when he was killed during the American Civil War while serving as a captain with Company D 11th Missouri Infantry Regiment near Vicksburg Mississippi. His widow Sarah lived to be 101 years old and continued to farm until her death in 1968. Her home still stands today across from Pulaski High School north of town on Old Highway 66/Upper Slaughter Road. Heirs include his three daughters: Hettie Mae Storer (1920-2008), Opal Mae Storer (born 1924) and Lillie Mae Storer Jackson (born 1935). She donated her childhood home which still stands adjacent to Pulaski High School tothe school district after her death before she ever reached 100 years old! Now grades 9 through 12 use it as classroom space! Following Sarah's death in 1928, James' eldest daughter Hettie took over management of White Clay while her mother Opal remained guardian for Laura Jr., John Payson III & their younger sister Lafayette Justine Bryant(Born 1936). Around this time also started construction on what would become later called "Hatties Mills" which included a gristmill that powered an early cotton gin; storerooms; a blacksmith shop; 2 barns; 2 smokehouses; 3 water tanks - one original 85 feet long & 15 feet wide built by Millwright Brothers -& 4 outbuildings including 3 houseboats moored at White Clay Lake which would provide cover from storms during our times back then! From this point forward things changed hands among family members until finally Lafayette predeceasedOpal by just over 5 years prior to her own passing also leaving behind another daughter Hettie Jr.(1945-) currently owns & operates Hatties Mills Bed & Breakfast Museum just outside town Limits
