Benton, Arkansas is a small town in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri. It has a population of about 4,000 people and is home to the largest concentration of binoculars in the United States. The Bentons were pioneer settlers who built a log cabin on the forks of the Little White River. They named their new town after their firstborn son, Elias Jr. In 1839, they also founded the First Baptist Church in Benton. The church is still active today and has served as a community center and worship ground for over 100 years. In 1865, Benton became the county seat of Payne County. From here, the county developed into one of Arkansas's most important agricultural counties with many large cotton plantations catering to national markets. In 1932, the city of Benton was incorporated and began growing rapidly as a result of its post-Civil War heyday as an agricultural center and trade hub. Today, Bendon is home to several high-tech companies as well as several major retail stores including Sears Holdings Inc., JCPenney Co., Macy's Inc., Best Buy Co., Lowe's Companies Inc., Tyson Foods Inc., FedEx Ground Company, Coca Cola Refreshment Company and WalMart Stores Inc..
Benton, Arkansas is a city in and the county seat of Benton County, Arkansas. The population was 31,635 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Benton County by area and second-largest in the state after Little Rock. It is also one of two cities in Arkansas that are both considered first-class communities according to Forbes magazine's "100 Best Places to Live." The creation of Benton County from parts of Pulaski and Fayette Counties on November 3, 1881 helped create what would become one of the most populous rural counties in Arkansas. With over 100 miles (160 km) of Bypass Road connecting it with other small towns and counties, Benton quickly became known as a large agricultural center. However, during World War II some manufacturing establishments such as munitions plants were opened up within its boundaries which soon helped develop into what is now an industry heavy town with a diversified economy. Today much of what once characterized as rural Benton has been transformed into downtown areas that include high-end retailers such as Sears and Macy's along with more traditional brick-and-mortar stores including banks, restaurants, hotels and home builders. In addition to its core retail districts there are several areas located near the river or around major shopping malls that have seen growing development over recent years. These include NortheastArkansas Regional Airport just outside town limits where general aviation flights serve local businesses; Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport about 15 minutes south; and South Central Arkansas Regional Airport about 25 minutes north - all three airports offer passenger services for smaller airlines as well as car rental facilities for visitors looking for various types of travel within Benton County.

In 1876, Cooke & Whitney began production of what is consideredthe first true 3-inch aperture telescope when they produced a device called “The Great Dipper” which featured a triplet eyepiece with two lenses each) In 1896, Alfred Nobel developed an invention called photography which permitted people to take pictures with their eyes closed without using any lensed instruments like cameras or microscopes In 1912, Russian scientist Sergei Ivanovich Lomonosov invented what is now known as telescopic camera which allowed people to capture images through their own eyes using just one lens

The first people to live in Benton were Native American hunters and gatherers who hunted game near present-day Benton. In 1824, Captain James A. Benton purchased land from Theophilus Jones for $1,000. He named his new home "Benton" after his friend and mentor General Thomas J. Hindman. Benton was one of the most prosperous towns in Arkansas during its early years due to its location near what is now Interstate 40 and access to several railroads which made it possible for businesses to grow quickly. During World War II, Benton played an important role in helping war efforts by providing housing for soldiers and supplying them with food and goods needed for their troops overseas. After the war, many businesses closed but many others thrived thanks to continued growth on local roads and rivers which allowed easy commerce between neighboring counties while also creating opportunities for farmers to sell produce back into town square during fall planting season
