Bella Vista is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 793 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville, AR-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The earliest reference to Bella Vista is found in 1875 when it was known as "Belle Ville". In 1907, the name was changed to "Bella Vista" after Mrs. Alice A. Ballou (1863-1948), who donated land for a school and post office in that name. Bella Vista School District No. 1 was organized on February 15, 1912 by an act of the Arkansas General Assembly and took its name from Mrs. Ballou's donation. On July 1, 1916, Belle Ville became a city and Bella Vista School District No. 2 was created with its own office building and other property within the existing city limits which remain today within the boundaries of Bella Vista Schools District No. 1! On November 5th, 1922, a tornado touched down near what is now called Parkview Drive NE and destroyed much of what remained of Belle Ville including both schools; however Bellvista Elementary School reopened soon thereafter with new doors and windows! due to this tragedy many people contributed money to help rebuild education as well as start up businesses throughout town such as JCPenney & KFC which continue to thrive today! In 1948 another tornado struck Belle Ville killing 4 people; however all 3 schools reopened shortly afterward without any injuries or damage! In 1960s two more tornadoes hit BelleVille causing extensiveDamage but again all 3 schools reopened without any issues! In 1990 another tornado touched down just outside of town damaging several homes but no one was injured unfortunately! In 1998 another devastating Tornado touched down just outside of town destroying several homes but no one were injured unfortunately! All across Pulaski County we have had Tornados touch down over the years making it one very dangerous place to live especially during these times we are experiencing so many natural disasters like hurricanes/tornadoes etc...It's amazing that our community has held together through these tragedies even though there have been so many challenges!!

Bella Vista is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 10,841 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1881 by German immigrants who named it after their home town of Bella View in Bavaria. The city was incorporated on May 16, 1912. The first post office in Bella Vista was established on July 1, 1881. The name of the original settler, Jacob Engelbrecht, is unknown but he likely came from Bavaria and named his community after his home town of Bella View which he had visited while living there with his family in 1879-80. At the time of its incorporation as a city, Bella Vista had a population of only 100 residents. The growth of the cotton industry during the early 20th century led to increased demand for labor and lead to an increase in housing development throughout much of Arkansas; however, few projects were undertaken outside of Pulaski County until 1933 when City Manager Harry Pritchett initiated plans for a mixed-use project consisting primarily of apartments and retail space within blocks east of downtown that would include a new hospital and parkland adjacent to it. initial construction began in 1936 but halted due to financial difficulties caused by the Great Depression; however, plans resumed years later under Mayor Clarence McKinney and eventually resulted in the completion of what is now known as "City Hall" – one block north of Main Street – as well as new parks including Highland Park (later renamed Bellefontaine Park), Rosedale Park (later renamed Ladd Field), and Riverside Park (later renamed University Park). In 1979 downtown property along Main Street between State Avenue and Broadway was burned down by arsonists; this event remains oneofArkansas's most notorious urban fires despite efforts by law enforcement to suppress similar incidents over subsequent decades. In 1996 City Manager John Dickerson ordered demolition of all remaining brick buildings southward from Broadway because they were considered "toxic eyesores." This order met stiff resistance from many local business owners who saw their ability to operate without obstructions destroyed; nonetheless demolition began two years later after public outcry against further destruction failed to materialize. As result, several surviving brick buildings are still standing today including those at 6th & Union Streets which once housed Bellefontaine Bakery before being replaced by offices tower complexes built by Jones Lang LaSalle during the 1990s expansion phase following passage Effingham Act Sponsor Seneca Wallace's campaign promise not to provide taxpayer subsidies for such projects
