The history of firearms in Bella Vista, Arkansas dates back to at least 1892. That year, a group of men from the town started a gunsmithing business called The Arsenal. The business was initially located on the north side of town, near the current day Walmart store. Over time, The Arsenal moved to larger and more modern facilities on Fourth Street. Over time, other businesses also got involved in the gun trade in Bella Vista. One such business was the Mrs. Witherspoon's Store, which operated from 1907-1914. During that time, Bella Vista had two grocery stores: the Mrs. Witherspoon's Store and an automaker's shop called Gilmore & Wright Brothers'. In 1928, The Arsenal relocated to what is now known as 4th Street Southeast in Bella Vista. At that time, it became one of only a few businesses in town that still used handguns for sale and transactions. In 1929-1930, The Arsenal added a rifle section to its inventory and began marketing itself as "the best place to buy rifles in Arkansas." In 1951-1952, Bellefontaine Hardware Company opened up shop on East Boulevard Northeast in Bella Vista; it would become one of the most influential Lower Great Plains gun shops during this era for its wide selection of firearms products as well as its innovative sales practices (e.g., high product prices without any consideration for shipping costs). Bellefontaine also served as an important connector between Upper Great Plains farmers who grew corn and cattle and Delta County residents who raised chickens or horses; these markets helped keep guns available for both groups even when there were no regular commercial outlets nearby. After Bellefontaine closed down its doors in 1976, parts availability dwindled significantly until finally being eliminated altogether by federal law introduced with passage of the Brady Bill in 1978 – all handguns except those registered with state police are now banned by federal law across America (see Gun Control Act of 1968). This has led directly to increased crime rates due to criminals using unregistered handguns instead of registered ones

Bella Vista is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Des Moines, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bella Vista is located on the eastern edge of Pulaski County and can be seen from Interstate 25. The town was established in 1892 by J.P. Bell and his wife Emmalee Clementson as a farming community near what is now Northwest Little Rock. In 1923, Bella Vista became the county seat of Pulaski County after that county was created from portions of neighboring Benton and Roane counties. The city of North Little Rock annexed Bella Vista in 1953; however, North Little Rock's jurisdiction expired on January 1, 1998 when Pulaski County merged with Arkadelphia to form the Arkansas metropolitan area.[1] According to the USGS National Geographic Names Database, Bella Vista has been named for two different people: one who settled there around 1892 (J P Bell), and another person who lived there during 1923-27 (Emmalee Clementson).[2][3]
Bella Vista was first settled in 1872 by a group of Arkansas farmers led by Emerson Beall. The town was named after the Bella Vista, Alabama family which donated land for the town. The first store in Bella Vista opened in 1876. By 1915, Bella Vista had a population of around 100 people and was home to two churches and one school. In 1923, the Bellasville death mill closed and the town lost its manufacturing base. However, the community has grown since then and now has a population of over 500 people.
